The former owner of my TDM & a friend, spent a lot more time than I riding with other friends that have Beemer 1100 & or 1150 GS's. On some long trips. He is a big guy too. Anyway, more than one of the GS guys told me, "That thing hauls ass!" 'Cause it went right by them.
Yamaha should still sell them here. I think they would have a better market for them now, as opposed to '92-'93. Hell, Buell/HD saw the light & sells the Ulysses. Maybe the only bike that could replace the TDM for me. Not a Beemer. |

Valve shims
Iv just had my valve shims checked at 37K miles ,yea i know it should of been done at 28K but there are reasons for that being missed,
All Inlet valves were in tolerance and one exhaust valve ,the other three were out but the inside left hand cylinder exhaust valve was way out.The camchain was slightly worn but the mechanic said nowt to worry about and the carbs were balanced aswell cost of 3 shims were aprox in UK = USA $. $17.25, coolant $10,Labor $210 total of $237.25 I was expecting them all to be out of tolerance on the valve shims but was surprized to find inlet valves were ok. |

It's been a couple of years, but I got a bike that's allowed on advrider so I guess I can join this hugely grown crowd again. I had a T-max for a while which didn't fit on advrider, but now I see there's even a battle scooter section
. Anyway, here's my current steed:![]() It the TDM900A GT version, so with Yammie bags, carter spoiler, tall screen (don't like those, so switched it) and centerstand. Here it is when I just picked it up from the shop a few months ago: ![]() I'll take some updated pics in Spring, because it had some cosmetic updates since the last pics (top pic is in the Picos de Europa in Spain). Crash bars have been replaced with sliders and the chrome standard cans are now black Superpole cans. Even though they are legal cans and with db killers, it seems I can now outrun (although very slightly) a DL1000 V-strom (although the friend who rode it has quite a lot of bio-tuning to do). Anybody who would like to see the first TDM trip I took through the Picos de Europa can check it out here: http://piloot.smugmug.com/gallery/1994480/

Bellypan for TDM's
Hi Emile - the Eagle has landed!
Back about 8th January on this thread, Pezz_gs asked about bellypans. I see you've shown the standard Yamaha fitment, but I recall you now have a Puig one - since I'm famously lazy could you post the pic here that you showed us on Carpe? There have been exchanges on aftermarket cans, too. |

Go for it!
Not too ratty at all for a project base. Refit those pipes for sure - current 2:1 looks bad anyhow. Could go naked ? (pics @ Carpe TDM - scroll to entry of 7th January 2007)

![]() ![]() Go to http://stores.ebay.com/bs-motoparts and type in "TDM 900" (with the space, without the "") for all their TDM 900 items. They got nice stuff. I ordered the MRA screen with them as well as the great looking TDM sliders: ![]() Here a pic I took today, you can see the Superpole cans (legal, with db killers) and the mentioned TDM sliders: ![]() And yes, it's dirty... It actually hasn't been washed ever since new
