Sorry for the late reply. I was North of HWY 12 heading South on Aug 1st. The FS sign said 4 miles to hwy 12 and the trees were down about 1/2 mile down the quad trail.
I ended up hitting 12 about 1 mile West of Lowell ?
I doubt a reroute for someone heading North would be a big deal, but for most folks heading south 330 miles is a long way on a tank of gas.

How did you not hit that gate at the end of the 2nd video?? It was invisible. That rocky hillside at dusk must have had you questioning your sanity too!!

Good stuff.

Good stuff.

Because I hit it last year.

Next time through I will bring some flagging tape for it.

We were lucky enough that the gate was laying on the ground or I would have run into it for sure.

I tied some pink flagging tape on a few sneaky gates in NV, UT, and ID this summer. Hopefully it will keep someone from running into them.

Excellent Work!

Did anyone get checkpoint 27 this year? We made it to the West Fork Lakes but found no trail beyond them as depicted by Martin's waypoints. It appeared to be a large downfall filled bowl with the only trail ending at the furthest lake.

"Follow 4143 westward up Morgan Creek for about 3 miles to an intersection with trail 4234. Continue another few miles, past West Fork Lakes, climbing steeply to the scenic headlands above Morgan Creek where the trail loops back to the east."

Or how about CP28? We attempted the first alternate route up Lick Creek but were stopped short by a very steep and loose off-camber sidehill track.

We rode up Lick Crk as well but remembered later that Martin told us that Lick creek would be no fun to ride up hill. We got to some heinous loose switchbacks across a river before we turned around.

Pizzaforbreakfast and I hit those switchbacks and kept going on to the lakes,
after that - nothing.
No trail, just logs and trees.
The route went through the lake - but it is too deep for that.
We rode and walked all around there - but found nothing.
We turned around there.
If it was at home and we were on a day trip - we would push our luck.
We decided not to as we were on a time schedule and wasting a lot of time at that point.
