Have you ever spent time on any American beach? I had the pleasure of patching kids up (not the dead ones, we tarped them) on beaches all over Hawaii. Scooters generally are underpowered and are often bounced off cars. If going out on two wheels, I highly recommend having more acceleration ability than the cars that are about to kill you.

That's got a lot more to do with inexperience than lack of power.

50% of the time i would agree with you. I have however seen enough corpses with cycle designation on their ID.

Pretty sure any MSF instructor in this country would agree. Lack of power, especially when a hyundai can out accelerate you is a safety issue in an already dangerous two wheeled life.

I can think of more than a few instances where the presence of a cycle endorsement has no correlation with experience on two wheels. Here all it takes is an 80% on a test and a couple of figure eights in a parking lot.
