A good RR, IMHO. Thanks!

Thanks! Judging by the number of duck blinds I spotted (guess I'm not a duck), it's a popular spot for hunters.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to put it together.

Really enjoyed your pics and writing.

Looking forward to more.

Thank you for your kind words. I've been checking out your RRs too and they're excellently done. I see your wife has a Tiger too - she clearly has good taste

Haha you dropped the grenade on the thread. Anyone who answers this question gets flamed on this site. But I'll be honest - for the riding I do, both bikes are perfectly suitable. I know you do some really gnarly stuff with your Sertao, and I haven't taken either off something worse than some rocky and muddy two-track, so I can't really give you a good answer for your context.

But based on my own experiences, I rode an F800GS in an off-road training class and the only complaint I had was that at low speeds, it seemed like the throttle was really sensitive, and the bike would lurch forward when I wanted it to do anything but. The class bike did that and when I rode my bf's it did that as well. BUT it's probably just something you get used to or you become more precise with your throttle output, something like that. It doesn't bother my bf at all. He loves his bike.

Out of the box, I think the ergos on the BMW are probably more suited to off-road riding. The footpegs seem higher on my Triumph (my knees are bent pretty high when seated), so I needed 2" bar risers so I wouldn't be hunched when standing. The BMW felt comfortable standing, but not as comfortable when seated. But you're not going to be sitting much when riding off-road.

I'm in no way an expert rider off-road, so take the above views with a grain of salt.

Nice report B.

Those areas are pretty accessible for us DDB's so we sometimes take their beauty for granted.

hmmm....The Inn@Perry Cabin. No expenses were spared.

Thanks! I need to see more RRs from the area. I found only one. You guys are holding out on us.

About the Inn, the last few times we vacationed, we were slumming it in a tent. We deserved to splurge a little this time out. It was definitely fun, but not somewhere I'll be staying every weekend
I have to say, if you do feel like going all out, that's the place to do it.

Thanks for posting! I've ridden a few of those roads before but not that far down. The familiar sights of home and the green lush Chesapeake watershed makes me long for home. Well done on the "Leaving the Inn" shot and the breakfast (could be used for their advertising). Thanks for taking us along!!!

Thanks Mike! I really appreciate the nice words. And wow - good to hear from you. Since I can only sneak out on the weekends, I look forward to your blog updates and your excellent photos to travel vicariously during the week.

Very nice RR Blix. I've logged a lot of miles around here, but have managed to miss this section of nice roads & great views. Thanks for turning me on to it. Enjoyed the write up too. I still like the title, but then it's after midnight, so… :loll

I need to get another get together going sometime, even if HBN has abounded ship/garage.

Cheers.

My pleasure, Dr. B! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. There are a lot of places like Hooper's Island in the region, so there's plenty to explore down there. And I'm glad you found humor in the title Yeah, next time you host a bbq, I'm down!

For those of you who expressed an interest in the area, the New York Times posted an article this week about a father-son fishing trip on the Chesapeake Bay. It's better written than this little ol' RR - definitely worth a read: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2014/08/03...-bay.html?_r=0

Hi Blixa, I'm so glad I spotted your RR. What a beautiful ride! I need to get back there, I've never been to Chesapeake Bay. This is my first trip that didn't include camping and I gotta say...... I'll book mark this so I have where you stayed and rode.

Looooove crab, out here it's dungeness. Mmmmmmmm.
