?

Would you pay ~$300 for a bolt on, under seat, rear oil tank?

Stock frame probably doesn't have enough internal volume to be worth the effort.
The Yamaha 500 single(s) from the mid / late 70's had that feature.
It was incorporated in the down tube in front of the engine.

We have bashplate to protect the oil tank...I was able to bent my Weld86, but no hole, no cracked weld.
Rad is protected by the tanks, Adv rad's no longer in production neither...
I don't understant your point, but being there (no oem oil tank) I guess we'd have enough room to put a more common cooler (as on Meoni's lc8)

Hi rinho.... Yes, there's lots of bashplates to protect the oil tank. My point was many SE bashplates bolt to the front of the SE oil tank and the lower radiator mount bolt connects to the oil tank. When the bashplate takes a good hit, that energy is transferred to up to the oil tank (which moves slightly in rubber mounts) and the oil tank in-turn pushes up on the lower radiator mount and damages the radiator. Some folks use bashplates that do not utilize the front two holes on the oil tank. Those folks are less susceptible to radiator damage from a hard bashplate hit. Thats why I stated this is a concern today and in the future for "some" folks, not all. As for the fuel tanks protecting the radiator, that is not necessarily true on the SE. The SE wings will flex (and the front of the tank wings will move side to side) on a good hit and push into the radiator side tanks and the radiator side tank can damage several upper cooling rows. I've done this twice on the left side and destroyed two radiators that way and destroyed one radiator clearing a log when the oil tank pushed up and forced the lower radiator mount to take out a couple lower cooling rows. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Thanks Olfuddy for the clarification. I had Adv mod in my mind and did not understand you were speaking about SE setup as it's specificaly made on SE.
    Cheers!

Can't speak to the cooler, but it looks like they're using the oil tank as part of the subframe as @rattis suggested. I've seen that picture plenty of times but for whatever reason that just now clicked.

When enlarging the photo ... I deduce the right side upright for the sub-frame is removed revealing the rubber vibration mounts for the tank.
It does not appear the oil tank is a structural member.

Same deduction here. a piece of the subframe is apart.
I'd love to have the same, so much easier to put/remove H or 2in1 pipe

I on the other hand fancy the oil cooler, but with efi there is no room to install it under the headlight.

Take it off from under the dash and free it of the cable sleeve and move it to the glovebox. If you of course don´t use the box to other stuff. If you got ITG/etc airfilter you can mount it under the glove box.

You could test it. Others might chime in on this but i dont see any problems in that. Its almost same spot as the 950 adv.

He's saying he's not going to make any more of them, but it would be great to get a CAD file from him...
