I am becoming one with the bike. I can comfortably ride 65 mph (sweet spot) and can ride 75 no problem when needed. She has a 200 mile range with the gas light coming on at 150...if you screw up, you're pushing her at 210 (only ran out once). 400 miles a day was ambitious....300 is more doable, and my butt is killing me from 300 to 400, LOL! I can ride in rain no problem 45 to 50 mph, and I have plenty of room for all my gear in the boxes. Really enjoying the ride!

Made it to Bixby, Oklahoma to my best friend from high school (it's been 25 years), and it was like we never skipped a beat.

We went fishing for two days on Sardis Lake...very pretty place.

I officially have been spoiled by the fishing in Florida. Oklahoma fishing SUCKS. Take a look at these two whoppers and you be the judge? Who caught the biggest? We fished hard for two solid days. I will not be fishing again unless I'm home in Florida.

FWIW, we found the Saigon Cafe Bistro in Dodge City to be a very reasonable meal in (for us) an otherwise lackluster place.

Yep, I'm in. As much as I read and enjoy the RTW trips on here, the ones following the two lanes of the US are the trips I would really like to take for the present time. Nice looking bike too. I've never owned a Triumph but I sure like them.
Ride safe and keep us posted.

A suggestion.. now that you know the daily mileage that works for you before you leave in the morning go on Yelp and find a good clean motel say 250 miles from where you are at. Give them,a call and reserve your room..

Two good, things happen, one when you arrive tired no need to search for a place and second you won't end up with the roach motel.. good luck with your ride and ride safe..

Today I woke up in Bixby at my friends house to heavy rain. Within an hour or so the storm blew over and I did not have to get wet (thank goodness). Today was the first day that I was cold on the bike but as the day went on everything warmed up. I crossed Rt.66 (no pics and it was really cloudy so they would not have turned out great) and pulled over on a bridge to snap a shot of Tulsa while humming "Living on Tulsa Time".

Headed West most of the day driving in Oklahoma. Everyone said the plains are terrible and there is nothing to see, however I have to disagree. As I went west, I enjoyed the ride more and more. Lots of little dead towns, cows and cowboys. Got a couple shots of murals as I went and came across a transformer. If you like rural country, you will like west OK.

Stopped at a Wal-Mart today and got myself 75 miles of security in a red container...will not be pushing the Bonnie out west...just saying, I hope not. Also, left my water backpack in Bixby by accident...Grrrrr, I am too cheap to purchase another when I screwed up, so a gallon jug strapped to the pannier worked just fine.

The wind farms are as the Donald would say, "They are YUGE!" 100's upon 100's...more than you could count. Looked like alien ships landed all over the plains. Very cool to see.

    IMG_6150.JPG

Out with the old and in with the new...you can see the old windmill and 100's in the background.

The wind blew like crazy in OK and I learned how to drive the Bonnie sideways. I like Kansas. Less wind, rolling hills, beautiful farms, cow feed lots, and all the trucks at the huge meat packing plant...I wish I could go on a tour.

Once I got to Dodge City, I was not much in the mood to camp. This place stinks with all the feed lots, and besides, there are no trees. I had a place scoped out but passed a hotel for $40 bucks and decided to treat myself to a father's day present.

Tomorrow I will definitely be camping in Colorado.

I've always liked the scenery on the great plains. Love the shots of the wheat. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip!

Got up early to the smell of the cow processing plant across the street from my hotel. I got to try out my little air pump and topped off my tires. It worked so great! Tires are not going to make it back to FL. No way! I will be on the look out for a place to change the back tire on the way home.

    IMG_6180.JPG

The hotel owner said the cow processing plant kills 5 to 6 thousand cows a day! Wow. The trucks were lining up to drop the cows off this morning. Makes me want to eat a steak! I wish I could take a tour. That would be so cool.

    IMG_6181.JPG

You would be driving along with wheat as far as you could see, and then on the horizon you would see this big black spot? The closer you would get the more you would smell the cows. They were huge feed-lots housing the cows until time to slaughter.
