Thanks. I see you also have 1200GSA in the stable. I'm in the same boat. I hope i like the 1150 as much as my 1200. Lots to learn about this new bike.

Here is my take... the 1150 is a better looking bike with classic lines and the big ass metal tank... 1200 is plastic and more plastic but she tells me when I have to pee. If I could get the electronics on the SE the bike would be perfect :D. How anyone can sell this bike... they have no soul. Their loss is your gain. If you treat her like a pornstar, she will love you forever. :lol3

Dude. To have less than 10,000 miles on mine...that would be heaven. Just replaced the drive shaft and rolled over 70,000. Still going strong.

    Hi everyone

I am now on the train between Montreal and Toronto, about to pick-up Brent's 2006 GSA # 530, which I just bought. That's a bit under 700km away from home and the return trip in the cold and night will be an "epic adventure" by itself. I have my two-piece BMW Rallye 2 Pro jacket and pants, which can be quite warm, and also brought ski pants if my legs get cold.

I am also carying with me a BMW low seat as I am not sure how comfortable I will be driving that tall bike in the cold at night on the first trip ;-)

I am glad I am going with an 1150GS over a 1200GS. No fuel strip problem. No EWS problem. No plastic, all metal. I wanted a seductive farm girl, not a downtown hipster ;-)

That was a long return home. It started too late in the afternoon, meaning that I crossed Toronto early in the evening in full rush hour. And it got colder and colder (well below freezing point), so around 10PM I decided to sleep in a Motel 6 in Kingston. Then continued safely in the morning.

The day after, I registered the bike and started to do some maintenance. Here's my little "workshop" on i-BMW.com where you can follow the little developments on that 100,000 mile workhorse. I am still glad I picked a 2006 GSA. :clap

I have a low sargent seat on my bike. I like the seat but i would like to have it recovered in the blue of the stock saddle. Has anyone done this? Is it just as expensive as building a new one?

Sargent will make you a custom seat out of a BMW pan for $200.00... So I heard.
Maybe ask them for a custom design and pay a bit more. Somebody was selling a used Adventure pan for $50.00 in the classifieds.

It's my understanding that Sargent uses their own pan. I have sent them an email inquiry regarding the cost of recovering my Sargent using some of the stock blue colour on the seat. On their website it appears they offer recovering for worn or damaged seats for under the 200 mark. I'll keep you posted. I read your posts on reconditioning of the 1150…mad skills:lol3

    Hi Jick

You are 100% correct when mentioning that Sargent uses their own pans in their products. The reason is that SHAD, the supplier for BMW, wouldn't sell them any. Sargent had no choice but to do their own. Supply them with your SHAD/BMW pan and they'll do a custom seat for you.

I think it is a great idea to have them do a low seat with the same look as the original two-tone. Let us know how it works out.

It's so nice you have one of these bikes now. Your's has 60,000 miles more than mine. But sadly, I have no chance of mastering your engineering skills in that time I'd need to match mileage. But, since you like to share, and I like to ask questions, there will be harmony. I liked your I-BMW re-furb thread very much, didn't understand most of it but I hope, over time, something will seep in there. Very glad you bought at 06. I am VERY happy in the 30k miles I"ve ridden mine.

Well after hounting the Parallel Universe I'm finally able to say that I own the whole GSpot ). Bought this week end my very first boxer, and not just any:

1150 GS SE VIN: 093 :brow

It has 84000 kms on odo and just one previous owner who was at least twice a year at BMWs to get it serviced. Last service did cost him 1392€ where the bike had the clutch replaced and a ton of other things. Well except for the worn out tires, front discs that are a bit worn imo, and the side stand that seems to have a waaaaaayyyy to great leaning angle, the bike is in amazingly good shape (knock on wood :lol3).

Let's have some fun, shall we :D

    Pics to come!
