Have the green light from the CEO to take a week this summer on the GS:evil
BUT...where to go for a good dual sport adventure?

From San Diego....Baja too hot. California coast too crowded. Arizona hot.

Sierras? NorCal? Nice problem to have I know but who wudda thunk?

Any ideas much appreciated...hate to waste a week hall pass.

It might be kinda far but the Silver City, NM area is beautiful. Nice alpine climate, interesting culture, lots of great roads around the Gila NF. Slightly off the beaten track.

Central Oregon (Crater Lake maybe), Northern Nevada...both have elevations that can help you beat the heat.

How far are you willing to go?

I don't think you're gettin' around the heat. So spoil yourself with a nice pool each evening.

Utah is always my first choice. Kolob Res, Cedar Breaks, Zion, Bryce & hwy 12. ...and just wonder around. Treat yourself to a nice place in Vegas the last night.

Whatever you do, you'll be on a GS-it won't be that bad.

P.S.-I was just on Hwy 1 in central CA this week. Beauty not to be beatin'. But very, very slow. But, there is no reason to rush this area anyway!!!

A lot of Arizona isn't hot, and will require a jacket later in the day year round.

There is much of Oregon, Washington, N. Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, British Columbia, Alberta that will allow you to "Beat The Heat"...even in another month. It's all no more than 2 days away if you want it.

The desert is great, even when it is hot, the mountains are cooler and lush. You just have to decide how far you are willing to travel.

Oregon coast or northern Nevada might be the ticket...Canada little too far for a week, want to be able to play in areas that look inviting. Enjoy your trip man and thanks everyone for the suggestions.
