    Hi guys,

I'm looking for recommendations on a 10-12 day trip I'll be making with my wife and dog in early October.
Food, roads, POIs, hotels, anything.... I'll take any recommendation you've got!

Nothing is booked other than a stay @ the Grand Canyon North Rim Lodge, so the route it totally amendable. We aren't out to just 'make mileage' and skip a bunch of noteworthy stuff. I'm thinking 150 - 275 mile/days would be good, depending on how much time off bike we'll spend. I've tried to make the route as scenic as possible, including many supposed 'must-drive' roads I've read about from other Inmates here on ADVRider.

We'll be on a BMW GSA with 90/10 tires, panniers, and a Pet Palace top box as home for our dog. Minor off-road road excursions are welcome (such as Valley of the Gods, UT), but unfortunately any 'real' off-road adventures won't be possible.

Here are Google map links to all days. As I said prior, this is a rough draft plan and subject to change.

Day 1 - Home, Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park, Ouray

From Gunnison to Durango I prefer to go through Lake City/Pagosa Springs. This takes you away from Ouray/Silverton though. If you do go through Montrose a nice diversion just west of Gunnison is Hwy 92 going into Delta, Co.

On day one, you might consider exiting Hwy 50 onto Hwy 92 on the north side of the Gunnison River, taking that to Hwy 50 in Delta, and back down to National Park on the south side to continue on your original trip. Or, just ride back and forth on the southern part of 92 along the Gunnison River, as that has some of the most twisties.

PowerT, thanks for the suggestions. Why do you prefer Hwy 149 & 160 to Hwy 550? If I don't make it through any of these roads I'll make it point to drive them on a future trip!

If you can work it in, try to get on Highway 12 from Bryce area and head towards Torrey. I just recall that being an awesome ride, you will not be disappointed.

Just booked 1 night at a lodge in Zion. It is expensive but I hope worth it! With this booking, it's looking like 2 nights will be spent in Vegas (unless we spend an extra night somewhere not currently planned). Should we stay in Zion for 2 nights as well; or is 1 sufficient if we get there around noon and leave the next day around 1000?

Saying scenery is a stretch but I will go there. Lack of people/traffic and the altitude. The curves never seem to end, long sweepers to tight technical. The reality is there are very few bad choices in that area.

Zion/Bryce/Moab are all good. Angels landing in Zion is a fav of my wife and I. The lodging is money well spent.

Sounds wonderful! I don't think we'll have to time to take this route on this trip. There'll be others to follow where we'll have the opportunity to take that stretch of tarmac!
