I finally hit one of the great miles stones in my motorcycling life. I reached 100,000 miles on the same bike that I bought brand new with only 5 miles on the speedo. It rolled over at 100,000 when I was leading a group of riders on day 1 of my yearly NW Oregon Adventure Ride. And it just so happened to be that the owner of Gresham KTM who sold me the bike was along for the ride.

Nice work!!! looks like I need more saddle time, I bought my 07 in June of 08 and only have 34,000 on it. That is an impressive amount of riding you have there in a short time.:clap

I forgot to ask: How many more miles do you expect to roll over before the kitchen is done. :D

In those 100k miles, can you list the issues you faced in order to get her mechanicaly sound again?

Just to clear some myths around this bike!

Yeah.. if you have time, I'm sure a few of us would like some more details on what you've run into.

Original engine build? Head work from valves getting out of adjustable range? How many clutches? fuel pumps? suspension service?

Congrats on the milestone.. I hope to be there one day.

Or perhaps a little of both as evidence proves. Who knew what potential the 9xx's had so early on... when we all jumped into ownership with both feet? And how many moments wasted worrying about how an aggressive design could last as long as it could and play as hard as it does.

I can official wipe away the guilt I feel when adding up the insignificant slab tally on my speedo... merely because my 950 is just so much fun to ride, regardless of how much lower the precious miles are actually spent spinning the back tire through nasty rock washes, sandy ruts and creek crossings.

The KTM 9xx is truly KING of the Adventure bike.

    And long live the KING.

He is set at 19" and put on at least 150 more miles that day, and well over 200 the next.

Mort, Plans for the new kitchen are being drawn up. Looks like I’m going to have to stretch at least 150K out of the old 950.

If you add the 19" wheel factor, which I think is .06, then actually I'm at 106,500. But who's counting and who cares. I just love this bike and love to ride. :clap

    Now that's funny! :rofl

With the digital dash they have to actually ask you how many miles are on the bike, they can't just peek to see your milage ranking!

What you left out was the huge smiles per mile factor of your achievement.

    Congrats!

Oh yeah, I just gotta ask: What kind of oil did you use?!:rofl

An 'S' model steat at that, I didnt want the cut down 05.5 seat that it came with so I switched it out for the larger curb. I still have to sand up after about 100 miles to get the blood flowing.
