OK is this normal which I could not see how. I encourage you to check yours.

Last night I installed a skid plate on my 2014 1190R and one of the bolts I was to remove was missing. It looks as if the paint was missed here also which I wonder why. This bike has only 500 miles on it so it is not an issue that it vibrated out.

Is your bolt missing that holds the engine to the frame?

PS. This is the right side of the bike

Strange, but normal believe it or not. They all came like that.
I have the proper size tap. If you PM me your address I can mail it to you. I have an extra.

Can't tell for sure as I have the skid plate, but if I recall correctly there was no bolt before.

it's normal, something used for assembly only.

Thank you for the info and that is odd since you can see clearly that it goes into the engine. Now that you mention for assembly it would make sense why the paint is that way I guess. Maybe the mounting point to hold the frame during painting.

Hey all, This is my first post here i think although ive been following for a long time.

I am getting an 1190R in a few weeks so ive been following anything related to it to see if theres anything major i need to do before i start riding hard on it.

Ive come from a dirtbiking (KTM 300, KTM 525) and Quad (Banshee, yfz450) background which isn't exactly the same thing as an adventure bike, but similar enough. Any motorcycle or motorized machine is going to need some nuts and bolts re-checked in the first few hundred miles. The skid plate tends to loosen up more because it takes the biggest beating, even on the street it can easily pickup harmonics and start vibrating.

At first i was scared when i saw all the problematic threads, but they all seem like some basic mods take care of everything.

    Cheers!

Thank you for the offer to use the tap. The hold was already threaded so it was just a direct bolt on. :D
