Rode Vancouver(left 5/20) to Yukon to Alaska to Alberta thru Kootenay's back home(6/17),2500 k gravel roads ,bike was great took 3 1/2 weeks .Need info just ask.A few things,no shale on the Dempster any more, gas at Ross River 24/7 (credit card),take the ferry from Hyaines to Skagway no backtracking allowed, visit the people at Eagles Plains up the Dempster(great people, thanks Stan),try the Pit in Dawson City.Talk to the people you meet it's the best part of the trip.

Glad to hear of another long trek on a 650 twin. I am about to pull the trigger on a 2010 650. After riding both a F800GS and the F650GS twin, the 650 just felt better on the road vs the 800. Since a large amount of my miles will include commuting (fire roads etc when I can squeeze them in) I am opting for the 650. Out of curiosity, did you add aftermarket protection such as crash bars, bash plate or oil filter guard? Just curious if you did or if you felt them unnecessary for your riding.

Added hand guards, crash bars,MOD skid plate(I have the factory lowered bike and low seat)needed for up there, crawling over the berms the grader leaves behind, put on a front fender extension which keeps the rocks down from the rad.Probably the best thing was a throttle lock nice to put your arm down .
