Was a good day on Frisbee, good snow coverage, some sunshine. First day on the new long track Timbersled and the new bored and stroked motor. Gonna be a good winter. :freaky

My buddy built carbon fiber Rev 1 chassis and put a turbo on his own, this was his ride.

    <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/o1AhJS6nwys" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="420"></iframe>

But then along came these things which threw his life way out of balance, this is this years creation, CR 500, bored, ported and good reeds with the new long track. I know he will be doing some wonderful carbon work soon as he gets just a little bored. Heres last Saturdays fun.

Awesome. I have been wondering why it seems like no one is putting tracks on big fat 2 strokes! Seems like they would be perfect for something like that. Someone really needs to do it with the Maico 700 though. :deal

I drug an old KTM 495 out of a junkyard with a track in mind... Course, I'll never have the time or $$$ to do it so it 'll just sit there, while I dream...

I would really like to ride this thing instead of wrenching on it.

Oil line got re-routed the right way, not a hack-job ziptie fix like Polaris recommends...

Oil pump linkage lock nut was torqued on hard enough to bend the tab its on before coming loose. <label for="rb_iconid_29">:bluduh</label>
    [IMG]

    Muffpot installed. :dg
    [IMG]

Skis aligned (left one was way off)

and the exhaust spooge line rerouted to dribble out the bottom of the sled, instead of all over the engine.

That seems like a ton of shit to do on a brand new sled, or a brand new anything for that matter. Customizing I understand, but jeez... Is that typical for new sleds?

It's fully rideable as-is (outside of the setup stuff, ski alignment included). The oil line has a factory update, their "fix" is to ziptie it to a more secure location, but that doesn't fix the high spots that trap air bubbles.
The oil pump is usually a bit low for EPA reasons, bump that up a notch to hopefully prevent any lubrication problems in the motor (and i'll throw a splash of oil in the tank too).
I'm kinda anal about my sleds... Do the work on it now when there's no snow anyways, and when there is snow... ride the piss out of it.

And I have no idea why mountain sleds don't come with tethers. Required for any form of racing, and should the throttle stick that'll keep your sled from going WOT into the nearest tree.

Those polaris mountain sleds are kickass looking, i've got a 02 zr800 that for the last 2 years just sat and collected dust, so maybe this year i might get some miles on it.

Finally! 9 months, 20 days, 17 hours since the rod bearing let go on my 900 in West Yellowstone last season.

Off to the mountain we go.

Yay snowmobiles! New motors/top-ends, so it was kind of a slow riding day.

There's decent snow out there, it's just not real deep...

I like my new toy. :)

XC gets the season's first stuck...

A new sled didn't make me a better rider. :deal :lol3
    [IMG]

Hazards of early-season riding.... the land mines aren't buried yet, just covered. XC tagged this rock.

Went to the girlfriends family yesterday and saw lots of used sleds for sale, one mint mid nineties zl440 that would be perfect for the girlfriend but i don't have the space and havent not ridden my sled in 2 years i cant justify it.

We got about 8" over the weekend. Should get that again by the end of this coming weekend and I think I'll call that "good enough". Already seeing tracks across the lakes :eek1

Rabbit Ears! I didn't realize they got that much snow this weekend! Open Snow was only predicting Wolf Creek and Durango as having more than 6" last week. Looks like we'll be getting some down here on Wednesday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this weather pattern keeps up!
