All I can say is I have a .12 gap on my right fork. On a 15 RT. The other side is tight. I used the clamps from a member on this forum. Yes RT not subjected to same as a GS or GSA BUT there is a separation. Same fork, same assembly. But since we ride on glass smooth roads and no pot holes or gravel or high shoulders we should be fine, my ass!

I refuse to get my blood pressure up over 150 bucks. As I have said I think of the clamps as a 150 dollar farkel and call it a day.

Total bullshit on the handling of this issue. I mean if you have a machine turning these out 24/7 why the hell is there a shortage for GS and GSA?

If my fork or any fork separates or fails on a RT I will in fact file a class action on BMW so fast their head will spin.

Especially since I asked if I could buy them and pay for the install.

Maybe if I just got the reflector recall done to my front forks that adhesive would hold those crimps in place.

If my RT had a gap that big I would take it to my dealer and politely but firmly request/demand it be replaced under warranty.

I can't imagine a good dealer turning that down.

Curious. I have a early 14 regular GS. Dropped it off to the dealership this am for the recall and guess what, my bike is not included in the recall. I never got a letter but figured that was because i am the second owner and have moved.

Don't see a gap either. Didn't know some 14s are exempt. Didn't search the 189 pages in the threadfest.

I stopped following the GSpot a long time ago. Live is much more relaxing without constantly being reminded of all the potential problems our bikes may have someday.

Good point. If you read this forum you start to think the GS is the worst piece of shit ever made.
But without he forum, I find it to be a pretty damned good bike!

I just called BMW customer service and ask for to make my payment. I just got my bike fixed 2 days ago. I called BMW back and I should know if they will pay next week.

Also not sure if it changed anything but a week after I asked for payment my dealer got the parts for my bike.

So.... I have followed this fairly closely but may have missed something. Have any repaired/fixed bikes had a fork failure? I would think not but ya' never know.

Some of us are still waiting for the required parts to arrive. Meanwhile I still ride mine. I have no notable gap on either side.

GSW's built before 11-2013 are not on the recall. Different crimp style. My 8-2013 build 14 model was not on the recall list either.

I have not even called the dealer yet. No point, they have no parts. No gap on my bike.

Ha ha! It sounded like a good idea in my head to give BMW a call! Oh well! When the free parts for a non-problem come in, I suppose I can ease on in let them give them to me anyway....now they front will surely come loose!!

I called just before the salt trucks came out just to see if by chance they could do it before next spring, "yep we have one set do you want to schedule?" Sure I said, they are 100 miles away, brand new dealership with a service bay still under construction. Said all they have been doing is oil changes and this one recall, didn't even have the equipment to hook the old girl up to the mothership. But in and out in under an hour, great service. I had no gap.
