    Hey everyone,

I currently ride an R1200GS but I have always wanted a small bike like the CT90 to putt around on in the local area. I looked at one this morning that was absolute crap and the guy wanted $1600 just because he had a title. I continued looking and found this very sexy 1978 CT90 later in the day. It has recently had an engine overhaul, new rings, piston, valve job...al that good stuff. The tires are good and it's pretty damn clean, he also added a larger sprocket for some down low power but I may change that out. He has a clean title and everything else as well, it runs damn good. My question is does $1300 look like a good deal for this?

    I am sold either way.

I would jump on that immediately. It looks absolutely gorgeous. If I had room in the garage and you did not buy it, I would ask you to PM me the buyer's details so I could buy it.

$1300 is not a "good" deal but it's not out of line in this condition.
If the additional gas tank is factory that's worth quite a bit by itself. If you like it and can get it for closer than $1000 then yes, good deal.

Looking at the Seattle craigslist, I see a couple of CT90's for $ 1650 asking price. Neither of them look near as good as the one posted here for $ 1300. Based on looking at the ads for several years now compared to listings in other areas, I am convinced that scooters go for higher prices in the Seattle area. I see some listings down South or in the Midwest that just make me want to weep for how inexpensive they are.

I would have to agree on the prices being higher for these bikes in the area. The guy that I spoke to yesterday was convinced that he could get at least $1500 for his CT-90 that was in very poor condition simply because he had a title. They had painted the front fender black and had mounted an elk head on it. It looked pretty bad, but it ran well. None of the signals worked either.
This bike is in far better condition and I have gone ahead and purchased it, I think $1300 is a fair deal considering the condition of the bike. Granted it has a bit of rust on the swingarm, but it's also 31 years old. Now I just have to wait for my hitch carrier to come in so I can pick it up!

The prices of bikes was even higher in Hawaii when I lived there. I always considered the higher price of vehicles that people charged to be based on the higher cost of living and the "false sense of scarcity" that does not exist, at least on Oahu. The entire island is practically one big housing unit. I would also attribute the higher cost of living from the Seattle area vs the South to make things such as moto's cost a bit more. Plus considering the wet weather I would bet finding a bike this old in good condition without major amounts of rust and such is harder to do. There is a similar looking bike on craigs right now for $1650 in Green lake.

Nothing says classy like mounting a game trophy on a scooter.

And kudos on your excellent deal. I would love for Honda to bring this back. I suppose the Sachs Madass 125 is about as close as we get, although I have not seen one of those in the flesh yet.

I don't think it's a good deal. I bought a "77 in great shape a couple of years ago for $700. Seems like people have real inflated ideas about the value of these things.

Depends on how much money $1300 is to you. Not joking. If it is no big deal, I'd buy it.

I'm told they are not making them any more. Regret is a bitch.

    Good luck.

Perfect ultra-low mileage bikes are bringing $3000+. Honda is really missing the boat by not bringing these back to the U. S.

I've got one of these beside the shop, a friend left it wanting me to overhaul it, no compression at all. I told him to get me parts, thats been a few years ago. He also didn't have a title. He never got me the parts.

1964 First Year of the 90, I think....

I just may haha...I have a hitch carrier coming in this week so I can carry it on the back of my 4runner. If it comes in the mail in time I may bring it up, didn't realize the swap meet was next weekend. Is it on Saturday?

I think the CT-110 is a great bike but there are many other great bikes already here. I believe absence makes the heart grow fonder. If Honda started selling the modern CT-110 here there would be no $3000+ used bikes on the market. Their scarcity is the driving factor of that kind of price.

I have ridden a 98 CT-110 and its a blast but not so much more than my XT225 or my Zuma. -Jason

ps I would jump on that deal with both feet!

Damn, mine is identical to the one in your pics, and I paid $75! However, it's nowhere near as clean as that...grab it while you can, man!

Agreed. I adopted my wife's XT and it will plonk like a trials bike yet still run 65-70 MPH all the while delivering over 80 MPG.

The irony about the CT's is that the majority of us would have been embarassed to be seen on one thirty years ago...

I owned a C105 a little over 30 years ago, my only bike then, and I was still not embarassed by riding it.
