    Day One

With a late start as usual for me I loaded up and went north to grab my friend Leenpockets. We were both lucky to get out of work a day early! :D Not a cloud in the sky the sun was already heating things up.

My ride is a custom low rider 2011 DRZ 400 with most of my things stuffed in to a Giant Loop Great Basin. She has the DR 200 and also a GL Great Basin.

We avoided the cluster fk traffic in Sisters went west up in to the Cascades to find some dirt and shade under the pines!

Then some fast slab to Detroit for a gas and lunch stop. It was so hot by this time my big bag of trail mix had turned into a gooey chocolate mess, but I just dug in with both hands anyway! :dg

That was a pretty sweet spot up above the lake but like I said it was "SO HOT!" The riding gear came off and we hot footed it down by the boats and jumped in off the dock! The water felt great but with many more miles ahead we took off back into the woods. Wet clothes under riding gear makes for great air conditioning at high speed!

There was a nice mix of twisty pavement and gravel roads in to the shady trees of the Mt Hood national Forest. Here is Leenpockets rolling in and executing a fine left corner.

At the Ollalie Lake junction we decided that it was still too hot and we would just have to take the 10 mile total detour in the opposite direction of our final destination for another swim.

I'm so glad we did because it was a fun little road to ride down there and we had it all to our self's! And off goes the riding gear and in to the water again!

The lovley Ollalie Lake with our states 2nd tallest mountain Mt Jefferson in the background.

Wow! What a cool place we get to call our back yard! After some more dirt we hit the pavement and found a long section of road where we had to constantly dodge the most deathly pot holes that I have ever seen. :eek1 Sorry did not get pix of them though because I got distracted by the pretty wild flowers growing off the sides.

    [IMG][IMG]

Once we got to the next triple fork in the road we pulled out the Benchmark for some navi help and decided to slab it the rest of the way to our first nights camp. There is always time for photos sight seeing however!

While trying to get one last south face shot of majestic Mt Hood I happened to find this [IMG] sure looks like one of those Portland people "put a bird" on this reflector. :D I like road side art improvements!

North off of the 35 past Cooper Spur we dropped elevation and stopped for a quick pic of the first farm entering the valley.

As we were closing in on camp I could not for the life of me remember how to get there. :hmmmmm While messing with my receptionless phone Leenpockets sees a pickup across the road with two waving girls :wave:wave and two bikes it and says "looks like they know where we're going, let's follow them!"

So we got to MustangShelly's with our friends Scarlet and NatDesertCat leading the way. There we meet Nacho Claws who was working on her bike. And the rest of us all took a trip to the store for cold beverages and fresh food for the next few days. Our fine hostess had specially arranged for the dudes to haul a trailer filled up with our stuff and full coolers to camp! :clap Sweet! :clap Chairs and cold beer for everyone!!!:clap MotoFilcka and Isis rolled in from Portland that night too!

This was an exceptionally beautiful morning for my only agenda for the day was to pack up and ride my motorcycle! :D Not too bad of a view to take in for my first cup of coffee!

Before I get too carried away I suppose I should give the audience what they want ... Here is the link to many more :evil pix :evil from the Ladies ride http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=854326&page=23 Many of the photos you will find there are far superior to mine!

All of the rest of the girls started to show up on their bikes one by one they trickled in! One was even on fire! Really! We did some meeting and greeting and we were all given maps of the play ground.

    [IMG][IMG]

Off we go!!! Here comes NatDesertCat, MotoFlicka and liv2rydktms up and out of the days first "Whoop-T-Doo" section!

The lunch stop line up in a pretty meadow.

Just before this stop I experienced my first bee stuck in the helmet think it stung me twice, OUCH!

:D Dirty smiles from dirty miles! :D

After lunch we moved on a rocky road south east heading toward Tygh Valley with some fine views of Mt Hood along the way!
