If you really have the urge for a vintage bike, most any airhead BMW is a good choice- same basic motor design forlikeever, parts, info, & knowledge abounding. Most folks don't tour on the older ones - such as this one- AFAIK, (probably a speed/convenience thing, more than much else) but they are still celebrated at every level. Older Moto Guzzis might be somewhat similar in power and ride quality, or you could get a bit sportier, and think about a vintage Triumph, BSA, or Norton.

The sky really is the limit. There is a whole world with each of the above mentioned brands. Buy anything I speak about, and enter that world. ADVr is an excellent resource, as you have seen here- and each brand has its own dedicated forums for you to delve into. There usually is plenty of cross over with some guys posting on several forums, but this isn't 100% true. So if you DO get a vintage bike, seek that specific forum.

Good luck. I hope you DO wind up with a vintage bike.
