My buddy Duddles picked this one up in Alabama in 2010. I don't remember all the details, but ,it was something like , an older fellow bought it and put most of the miles on, had a health issue and stopped riding it. Later it sold to his neighbor who only rode it a couple of times.
Time passed, he decided he'd never ride it again, Duddles sees it on C.L. and was the first guy to show up with cash.
Speedo is correct 465 original miles !

In the early 90's I got an old Black "55" running for a guy I knew. It had the "slash side" exhaust pipe seen in the photos. His Dad had bought it new. I Got it running and it went back into his shed for another 10 years. Called him a couple years ago hoping to buy it from him, but he had given it away a few years earlier. :cry

besides, if a few old posts do not get brought to the surface once in a while, some of us would never see them. :D
I can remember riding my cousins 55 with the slit tube exhaust and thought it was WAY COOL back then :clap

hey thanks for the links, I really enjoyed reading the Burt Monro pages. just a few minutes ago I was looking at Radiomans photos of his visit to Invercargil, NZ and the exibit of Burt's bikes and his "offerings to the gods of speed".

It was the Burt Munro articles that prompted the owner of those magz to loan them to me, shortly after the movie World's Fastest Indian came out, and I expressed an interest in it. While scanning those articles, I had to scan a random few others that caught my eye...

Pierce, if you have not yet gone, you really need to go to Speed Week at least once in your life. one of my fathers co-workers was the sister of Nathan Ostich, builer of the first jet car, which was in a background shot during the movie. I built a model of his jet car out of a 2X4 from my granddads wood pile when I was a kid. still have it and got a photo of it with the real car in Reno last year. salt fever has no cure :D
