I have a 73 and at 60 it also gets scary, but it doesn't want to go much faster it feels toped out. Time to recheck every thing.

Check wheel bearings and swingarm bushings. Check the steering head bearings for play too. They all can cause a bad wobble.

Does the 80w help prevent leakage into the combustion chamber? My '74 F7 smokes terribly and it seems to be coming from the gear-case. I eventually burned all the oil out thinking it was leftover 2 stroke oil. Then when I refilled the gear-case with motorcycle 10w40 it started smoking bad again. I made sure the gearcase breather was open. Next I was going to try thicker oil. If that doesn't work I'll have to split the case I think. It probably isn't the crank seal since that would just leak into the outside crankcase covers. The only thing I can think is it is leaking between the seams. It will need to be split and reapply gasket cement. Any other ideas?
