Well, I've decided to go a different route and will be picking up a R1100GS on Saturday. If anyone has interest in the R100/7 PM me and I'll hook you up with the owners information.

BTW, that bike is not a 1978. It is a 1977 model. Check the fork caps and you will see a /6 leftover. The 1978 when to the padded dash to cover the unfinished forks.

sorry if I am being to anal.

NOPE:D It is a 1978. First year of green numbers on the instrument and electronic tachometer. I do not see a tach cable.

If someone looked at my fork caps they would think I had an 82. I do miss my polished fork caps.

The early 78 models had the older style caps and retainers.
Midway through the year they changed to the retainers that use an allen bolt in the middle and the black plastic caps.

I'll skip the Gibber Jabber and say this....

That looks like a very unmolested, dead stock bike and thats exactly what us "Airhead Hawks" are always looking for.

The mileage would indicate that it's about time for the heads to be freshened but unless the owner is dishonest, thats a great deal and an easy fix-up. The windscreen is a desirable and maybe valuable period piece, as is the tank bag. (Great tank bag! I have one for my Resto Rod and I like it a lot.)

This is one of those rare times when I have to say, "Just go buy the bike already, cause if you don't someone else will." Count on it!

PS: The only thing that I see that needs changing is that single front disk brake. Start thinking about upgrading to duals as soon as you can.

Maybe. I bought an R65 mono some years ago, with the same type screen. The damn thing created so much turbulence and noise that I developed tinnitus, which is no fun seeing my hearing was pretty well cactus anyway.

Just picked up a 78 R100/7 for free. Oil leak at the lifter gasket and needs clutch work. But when I set on her, I was in love~

My 77 used to spill gas from the carbs but I have been riding it a lot lately so it doesn't do that any more. I am sure if I let her sit for a few months she would start spilling gas on my shoe.
