I think it is beautiful ... but it doesn't appear to have a chain in the pic'.

In 1982 I would have traded every girl in high school for that bike.

Well, I blew up my motor and its rebuild time:kboom. Its already on the first oversize, and the cylinder is badly scored, but i found a guy that has several more oversizes and can get it bored to whatever I need. $100 for bore job and shipping both ways sounded pretty good to me. Now it is time for case disassembly...

Malcolm and Alexander Smith raced one close to this vintage at the Mexican 1000 rally back in May. It had the plastic tank mentioned.

Seems like they grenaded the bike too, rebuilt it trailside and still pulled off a good run. They scored a 3rd place behind a 950 SE and a Honda Rallye of some type.

Beautiful bike! What exactly do you mean by "blew up"? The the piston come apart? Hope all goes well with finding parts.

I pulled the motor and took the cylinder off.... it kinda looks like the ring melted/ piston slapped. on opposing sides of the piston there are big gouges in the cylinder wall and the ring is ground down. I found a guy that has all the parts I need including several oversize pistons he wants $200 for the piston kit and $70 to bore it out. Sounds alright to me, at least better than any other source I've seen.
