I recently got an ugly little 1986 white Elite 80, which is soon to be army drab green with maybe a red star up front The engine runs okay for sitting around the last two years however, there is a real "grinding like" noise coiming from the transmission area. It's kind of high pitched but not a squeal.... it gets worse as I pick up speed at about 40 it feels like something is slapping around in the rear end, or the belt is slipping... I back off a little bit and it stops. I haven't opened up the cover yet, and really have no idea how the tranny's on these work. Anyone else experience similar? Is there any other things I should be looking at besides just the belt? Any thoughts??? Thanks!
