To preface, as indicated in the title, this is my 1st ride report. I've only been riding since the end of May. And my 1st and current steed is a KLR 250. So that being said, on with the show, and be gentle... Yesterday I went for a ride from my home in Rainier, Wa to Mt St Helens. The trip was approximately 202.x miles driveway to driveway... Approximately, LOL. I of course neglected to take a pic before starting, but I was a 1389 and change. Here is the end result. Sweet time piece huh... Averaged right at 60 mpg and didn't burn a drop of oil. And I was straight working that little beast. Lots of long hills in 5th gear at 7000 rpm, and cruising in 6th between 6000 and 7000 rpm. Some pics headed to and up the hill... Sweet mural. First close sighting of the beast. 1st descent view point. On top at the Johnston Ridge Observatory. Is that my finger? Anybody into Mazdas? Unfortunately there's no pics of the bike and mountain from here. Had to hoof it to the observing platform. On the way back down... Trying to be artsy... Some random panorama shots. Trying to figure out all the different tricks and functions on my camera. It's way smarter than I am. There not all great, but here ya go... And my personal favorite. That's Mt Rainier on the Left. And Lastly some pics on the way home. What the..? Why yes, that cedar tree is in the middle of the frame! A break in the shade. 85 deg and all black riding gear makes me hot!! Wait, that didn't come out right. Kind of a wierd little spot in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road. Just some bridge like structure into some old growth for viewing. But I love big trees and enjoyed the cool down. And the rest as they say was history. Went hell bent headed for the air conditioned house and my waiting wife and baby boy. Can't say enough good about this little bike. Been great to learn on and gets me where I need to go. Lovin my day trips whenever possible and can't wait for my week long trip in September. Until next time, ride safe.
