Thanks Nowwhat for starting the thread :clap . I'm afraid if I do it, I will end up leading up the ride :lol3 .

First of all, the weather for tomorrow looks very good, no rain till later in the evening  .

Next, there will be very little dust on the trail :evil .

Third, most trails are either closed or too dicy to ride, and this one is easy and convenient (for me) :eek1 .

And last, I NEED TO RIDE and that will fix me up :ricky !

I googled the area bordered by San Francisquito, Lake Hughes, and Pinion Canyon/Lake Elizabeth. There are 2 major trails, and 4 other little trails. If that's not enough, there's the Sawmill Rd. I talked to a couple of mx riders and they said the trails are open.

Then, east of San Francisquito, there are few more trails that will take us to Bouquet Canyon. There are many places we haven't explored and this is the beginning, at least for me.

For those who wants to catch up, meet us at the gas station on the north side of Sand Canyon crossing the I-14. We plan to top off our tank there too. Do not count on Sito's 8 gal fuel tank, once you get off the pavement, his price quadruples. We'll be there around 8:30AM.

Noobies are welcome! This is an easy ride and GS rated, ask Mr. G, he did it on his Paris Dakar. Send me a PM for my phone number and other little details.

We can have lunch at that country restaurant which we went (Rohwer Flats ride) off Sierra (that restaurant was in the Suzuki commercial).

The other option is ride to Santa Clarita, have lunch and watch for the bike race (California Bike Tour). The final leg will be at the RoseBowl on Sunday.

See ya... :wave and don't let a good weather get wasted.

That was a long ride (200+ miles) for me and my ass is killing me!:lol3
I hope you guys made it home safe. I had a great time & the trails were great!! By far the most water crossing I have ever done in one day. I lost count? My boots were filled with water when I got home:vardy It was a cold ride home in wet gear:evil Can't wait to see the pictures! Got to do this ride again but next time I'll plan the whole day. Sorry I had to cut it short:cry

Joel thanks for leading the way! but you did cheat by riding the 400 instead of the 640!

Joel has a camera full of shots....:D .....

When Sito left us....we hit some of the best dirt ever...wet spongey sand....we made it 7 miles or so up the road....then snow...:D ...we crossed one snow patch...then another then another...then when it got 2+ foot deep we turned around....so did a KTM 425 and a Rhino....:evil ...

    Total trip for me was 216 miles....and Sito...it was 14 water crossings....:deal

BTW Joel is moving right along on that 400....:clap

You mean he actually carries gasoline in those things? Damn, I always hoped it was really something like brandy so if we ever got caught in an avalanche or something....:evil

:wings This was me at the start of the ride!
then after doing the 150 mile ride on an XR400, :cry :knary :kboom

Can't really complain. It was the perfect day, 80 miles of canyon riding and twisties, then another 60 miles of dirt (no dust, hard pack, some mud, lots of water crossing....just absolutely great condition). The weather was cool, sometimes cold which I would rather have when wearing armor and boots.

Made it home around 4pm, plenty of time to spare before the rain came down. Took me 1 1/2 hour to do 50 mile ride home. The XR beat the hell out of me, aside from the vibs, I can feel every little imperfection on the road. I'm really exhausted :pep .

I thought by taking the XR, I could keep up with Sito and Nowwhat, shit I was wrong. These guys kick ass. Not they pressure me to ride harder, I find it beneficial for me. I feel a better rider now than when I started doing dirt 6 months ago.

Pictures coming up soon, still uploading. Pretty interesting pics....:eek1

Thanks Nowwhat and Sito for coming along, you guys made my day! Great lunch at the Rock Inn, hanging out with the Harleys and Goldwings. Lots of chrome in the parking lot with the exception of the XR and 950E.

This is one of my best ride this year

We lost count on how many crossings we did

Did I say in an earlier post that this place is GS friendly?

Check out the freshly groomed dirt road

    The Adventure and the Enduro
    [IMG]

I hate to admit it, but this bike has chains
    [IMG]

Yes the trail is open :clap
    [IMG]

There's always a trail for the advanced riders
    [IMG]

Of course, there are always choices....Sito did the one on the right
    [IMG]

The thing I like about the ride, they always wait for the last guy. Sito's pipes are not as perky as Nowwhats :lol3 , the Super Enduro is pretty fricking tall I just noticed.

End of the morning ride, lunch is next then Sawmill :freaky

Lunch at the Rock Inn on Lake Elizabeth Rd, pretty popular to bikers, road and dirt..

Not enough chrome, but we still manage to get a parking spot
    [IMG]

Cool place, very bike friendly. Good food and service. Immediately whenever dirt riders show up, conversation starts to happen.

The trail was in perfect shape, there were no tracks other than from a quad or rhino.

Nowwhat ripped it and left me divots to follow.

The dirt is getting little too moist but not muddy
    [IMG]

We don't need ARTBOY to find snow! :lol3

This is at 4,700 ft elevation
    [IMG]

Getting stuck once didn't stop us from continuing our ride
    [IMG]

Never did snow, and my first encounter resulted to this

    Here comes the rescue vehicle
    [IMG]

If they're smart to turn around, so are we
    [IMG]

On the way down, the only tracks there are ours
    [IMG]

Finally at the trail head, met a couple on their way up asking Nowwhat about the trail condition.

I need to figure out how to post a google map. I have all the trails labeled in my office computer, or I can email it to anyone interested. Just have to update the file and indicate all the closed trails.

Also, I'm up to ride the same trails again next weekend. Anyone interested? This time, instead of heading out to Sawmill (turned left), we can take the trail on the right, and the other off shoots.
