Ed my riding buddy is off to do the Simpson next year (and I'm tempted to join him). We're on a mission to get some sand riding practice under his belt as he's new to it .....but its where I prefer to ride. So a plan was hatched to leave Perth at lunch time to be home by late afternoon.

We headed out from Gnangara pines - "Bogan Central!"

North through to Neaves road and straight on up the powerline track.

Through the state forest (using gazetted roads).

After some tar we join the beach dunes near Ledge Point.

Up the beach North to Lancelin which is very deserted as its winter here now.

And then home via the hwy to meet our curfew!

When you say winter...what is the temp out there? Great ride report.

Damn Yamaha for not importing that awesome bike.

Its about 20 degrees centigrade during the day, tonight the minimum is 0 (freezing). :eek1 Cold for this part of the world (Western Australia's capital City - Perth). Perfect riding weather with hardly a breath of wind either!

Nice way to spend the afternoon Wilmo.

I ended up being stuck at home all day cleaning my shed:cry but at least I'm riding tomorrow.

    The new Ten looks good.:clap

Yep, goes well too! Continues to impress me, I had as much fun today on the Ten as I did when I've had the KTM up this way.

Nice on fellas, hope to treat my new Tenere to some similar abuse in the v near future. On taking my XT660X in for a new rear tyre, Keys Yamaha at Worthing made me an offer I couldn't refuse for the XT against a new Tenere. Chuffed? You bet :clap

Awesome Photos! The Tenere is one gorgeous bike, it just screams adventure!
Nicely done. I take it the sand wasn't a problem?

The bikes are amazingly stable in the sand for a big bike - we had a ball and have done more dune riding since! A bit heavy to pick up half way up a dune face, but otherwise go well.
