I have seen a local KTM with 12K on the odometer that looks pretty good. When I try to google this, it always comes up as a 950/990 until 2009, when it's called a 2009 model-present.

So.... Is this really a 950 with a slightly bigger motor? What is the reliability of this year? I know the 05.5 models are better than the prior years. Is this considered the first of the 990's and a model prone to bugs?

Any information on this would be helpful. The 07-08 models seem to be hard to specifically identify issues for.

First year for 990 is 2006, last year for 950 was 2005
Generally speaking, 2006-07-08 are the less desirable years for 990s because of the throttle response mentioned above, but they don't have any different issues that may have newer bikes.
    06-08 have a nicer dashboard than 2010-12 though :D

Thanks for the information. I hit the OC Hall of Wisdom as well.

Has there been a definitive answer for the quirky throttle between 3-4.5K rpms? Haven't seen anything except for changing the fuel injection tuning with tune ECU.

Thinking of picking it up this weekend, it's a clean bike, the price is decent and at 12K miles it's not been around too much.

Curious what the market is for this bike. I have a pristine 2007 with 9K on it that I am thinking of selling because I don't have time to ride it. Gobi bags and FMF exhaust. Poor thing sits in the garage.
