    Hi everyone!
The last couple of months I have become very interested in buying a Tenere XT660Z!
I really like this bike, and I would like to get rid of my BMW F650GS Twin '08, that had quite a few problems till now.:baldy
The last one was some days ago, fuel pump and relais gone, cost more than 300€ if you buy OEM parts.
I bought an aftermarket pump for 50€ and found on Ebay a used oem relais for 45€, so it cost me "only" 95€...
I also like the Tenere because it is much more dirt oriented.
The only problem is that I am a shorty, 169cm, that is about 5' 7'', and I believe that the seat hight of the Tenere (895mm) will be too high for me..especially in the city traffic. The BMW's seat high is 820mm with the normal seat, which is perfect for me!
So the question is, what is the minimum seat height one can get, with a lowering kit, a different seat, or removing some foam, without messing too much with the bikes geometry, the riding comfort etc...?
Is there anyone who has lowered his bike, how much, and with what cons?
    Thanks!

It all depends on which Tenere you´ll buy: the standard Tenere is 895mm in seatheight, the ABS Tenere is only 860mm high, with also lower suspension, front160mm, back 150mm(the standard Tenere 210mm front, 200mm back). And there's also the possibility to lower the bike(seat, suspension etc..), you can customize it to your liking. Good luck, it's a mighty fine bike!
    Greetz, Hans.

Hi guys and thanks for the answers!
I know that there are lowering kits around, and some low seats, but I was hoping that someone could give me his personal experience.
From a small research I did, the ABS Tenere is not imported in Greece. I was looking the UK site as well, and I did not see the ABS model available..Is this right? And if so, in which countries is it sold? By the way, can the ABS be turned off, for off road riding, or is it always on?

    Hi guys,

I have installed a gps tracker in my 660 Té and left in the motorcycle for more than 1 week, after that the battery was drained, so I take out and went to Yamaha for a complete recharge. The tracker is not in the bike anymore.

After that, I was unable to ride for 1 week more, and then, had a small ride of 50km to charge a little bit.

But, the engine light is always on. I went to Yamaha again, and used the Diagnostic tool, but we didn't found any fault code.

I came back home, and discover that, when I put the high been front light, the engine fault light go off, but when I put low been light, the light pops out again....

    Has anyone a suggestion?

    Tks

In Hungary I have seen the ABS version and as far as I know originally you cannot switch it off.

Question for you tenere owners. Went to a dealer today and we talked a lot about the tenere. He said that the bike does not need a powercommander if you put on slipons. You can do it but it is not nessesary. Is that true?

I took it for a spin and it ran great but i like the sound of the slipons better than stock. The leovince ones look great in my opinion :-)

ı just bought the bıke 2 month ago and put on ıt about 1000 km

now ı'm ın a mıddle of a trıp to Iran (tomorrow I'll cross the turkısh-ıranıan border) and I have 3 ıssues wıth the bıke:

    1. the never endıng story of checkıng the oıl...I know the standard procedure but ıf I rıde for 15 mınutes and check the oıl level...nothıng...but ıf I rıde for about 1 hour and then let ıt ıdle for 1 mınute, then stop and check the level after another 1-2 mınutes...ıt ındıcates full!! :huh!! Can ıt be maybe because ı've put 20w50 oıl and ıt needs more then 15 mınutes to get to ıts workıng temperature?

    2. the bıke ıt's startıng to make problems when I start ıt...sometımes fıres from the fırst try...other tımes on the second or the thırd.....but ıt's gettıng worse everyday. I wıll check the plug tomorrow but I was wonderıng ıf any of you had thıs problem and maybe there ıs a typıcal solutıon for thıs bıke. (when runnıng...ıt's perfect...stays at 1.4 rev)

    3. the tube that comes from the aır fılter used to fıll up at about 1000 km...but now ıt fılls at about 300 km! :eek1....what could be the cause of that?!

I'm sorry ıf these problems have been answered already but I am ın an ınternet caffe ın a small turkısh town so a fast reply would be very much welcomed :D

    cheers
