So it looks like the DCPR8E plugs for the '08 have been changed for this new strange number LKAR8BI9. Anybody got an idea about the specifics on this new plug? I did a google search and there are only german language returns. Scuderia West has yet to do a 15K service on a '09 so they didn't even know about the new '09 spec plug.

are you sure that is the spark plug that is listed for the 990 because that's the iridium spark plug for the 1190.

    Nah, NGK is DCPR8E or DCPR8EVX on the 990 & CR8EK on the 950.
NGK Iridium models are DCPR8EIX for the 990 & CR8EIX for the 950.
Maybe different on the 2009 though.......

Be aware that NGK DCPR8EIX are with a fixed cap and LC8 EFI need a removable cap...

Was not able to have these without removable cap so, i decided to order in Denso, perfect and less expensive as NGK are.

A member on a french forum has proposed to a lot of members to order NGK Iridium on the net, grouped purchase, plugs came with a fixed cap, just good enough to show on the workshop shell.....

LC8 last generation use these LKAR8BI9 plugs like RC8 use, in fact, new heads from RC8 for the 990ADV 2009-2010 :evil

The 2009 990 Adventure owners manual lists the NGK LKAR8BI9 as the OEM spark plug. Checked with a local dealer today, who had none in stock, and they want over $25 each for the plug. The engine spare parts manual just list a KTM stock number with no referance to LKAR8BI9. Anyone know if this plug can be purchased outside the KTM parts system for a lower price?

Achtung brauchen ich eine Iridium-Stecker für die 2008.

I'm confused... Did someone say where I can get "plugs" for my 2008 990 Adventure. Preferably in the USA. I'm just a simple minded dirt rider and need my hand held.:1drink

but that link is for a 2009 not the 2008 and the above thread says the heads and plugs are different??? But then I am confused...

will the 2009 plugs fit the 2008?

I bought the ngk cr8eix with fixed cap and transform the cap with tools, now it's more thin and can enter, it works perfect since 21 000 km.:clap

    CR8EIX is for 950 carbs LC8 not for 990EFI....

    A small reminder:

    MODELS XXXXXX (IRIDIUM)

    950 carbs NGK CR8EK (CR8EIX)

990EFI <- '08 NGK DCPR8E (DCPR8EIX fixed cap so not suitable or DCPR8EVX removable cap)

    990EFI <- '08 DENSO XU24EPR-U ( IXU24 removable cap)

    990EFI '09 -> NGK LKAR8BI9

.... without to change or modify something at the bike or the plugs

    Voilà.....

I am able to locate NGK DCPR8E plugs locally.
The gap is .7mm but the manual specs out a gap of .8mm

Will it be OK :scratch for my 07 990?

The KTM plugs are hard to get and $$$ and even the dealer said to use the DCPR8E

BTW, the shop manual for the 07 990 specs out NGK CR8EK
I think I'll go look for those

Reviving an old thread because I'm in the middle of a service and turns out I bought the wrong spark plugs...d'oh. I bought the 16mm DCPR8EIX iridium plugs for the older 990's instead of the 14mm LKAR8BI9 iridium plugs for the newer 990's. Problem is, I cannot seem to find the new plugs listed anywhere nearby or even within a reasonable distance. Ordering from my dealer (who is closed on Sundays...and Mondays) or from an online store in the UK seem to be my only options...:eek1 .

I was wondering if anyone has a source for these plugs in Norcal, or at least a reseller in N. America....(besides KTM USA). Thanks.
