Seems to be quite a few "newer" riders this year. Just want to let you all know that on Sunday there is a ride with a couple of us women and someone leading us to make sure we get through everything and taking charge of the roll chart. If any of you would like to join us please let me know by PM and we'll coordinate. It was originally just me, a friend, and her dad but we'd like to open it up to anyone else that wants to join us.

On Saturday we can plan the same type of group if anyone wants to organize one with me... PM me.

I rode the entire course last year (no hero sections) and couldn't have enjoyed it more. It was my first year and I plan to ride the S500 as many years to come as possible. It would be extra nice to meet more women who are in or are joining the sport! Let's group up if we can :clap

    AWESOME!!
I am doing both days. Well, at least I plan on doing both days if I don't suck at it. I plan on getting there late afternoon on Friday to set up camp and do tech inspection.

They are useful but not as a primary tool.

I would carry Trails Illustrated 792 and 791 if you want a good back up map.

Anybody know the protocol if we need to cancel and let someone in from the waitlist, if any? My buddy had to bail on me so we are looking at next year. Many thanks!

As a AMA member for 17 years who lives in VA AND a GS owner, I am very bummed that I found out about this so late. Can someone send me the route that I have read so many good things about so that I can ride it with my friends at a later date!?
    Thank you

cool at night 40's and upper 60's during the day

    and no dust!!

Sorry you missed this year's Shenandoah 500, Eddy Alvarez! Another time, perhaps. The event has been listed in the AMA magazine, American Motorcyclist, for some issues (look under, "AMA Dual-Sport/Adventure Series;" on p. 46 of the September, 2011, issue)..

Routing information isn't commonly available, since private property with unique event easement is involved.
