Words like Zumwalt, Hess, Imnaha, Hess, Dub Bar and many others are thrown around when we are talking about attending the Hells Canyon Gathering. For the people who have been to this event more than a few times those places are well known. For many of the folks that are new to this gathering it’s like a foreign language. Perhaps giving you basic maps as to where these places are will help. Throwing in a few pictures and it will give you even more of an idea of what you want to go check out.
    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
The majority of you know the following but since we will have some newer riders a few reminders won’t hurt:<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Like any other type of riding please know your limits and ride within them. As we often say, ride your own ride. If you are with a group and they are riding faster than you are comfortable with ride the speed that works for you. The others will wait for you any time there is a turn in the road. Have no fear they won’t leave you behind.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Be sure your bike is full of fuel when you leave town and it’s a good idea to have a good meal before you head out too. Take water and at least a snack with you. This is remote country and once you are a few miles out of town cell service won’t be available.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Emergencies: Let’s not have any. If something happens and you can get cell service call the campground and we’ll do what we can to get help out to you. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
SPOT locators. For those of you that carry SPOT locators please PM me your SPOT link so if you don’t make it back to camp I can make sure you are still moving. Or worst case if you have to press the help button I’ll be able to check your status and get help to you.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
The most important thing is for everyone to have a great time. :deal :D<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
The maps that will be following are very basic they will give you and idea of where the different roads are to be able to check them further in your maps or benchmark atlas.

Wow! For those who don't know it, Sherry is up posting this very helpful information way way way past her bedtime. Yet another testament that her heart is in the right place.

I hope you will join me in thanking here in person when we see her in camp.

Rumor has it that she loves wine and chocolate, though she would never ask for it. I wonder if I can find any room on my little bike for a little something to help her smile after sharing such dedication....

Ah Fishy, you're such a sweetheart. No wine or chocolate is needed I'm just thrilled you will be able to make it.

Thanks for posting this, it's been added to the block.

And for all you that are unaware if Steep and Rocky make it this year it will only be for a while on Sat. Rocky has a very busy weekend that weekend as she will e wearing a cap and gown and picking a hard earned diploma. Hurray for Rocky - Congratulations :clap

There has been talk about fuel range and what to do to have enough for some of these rides. Last night while I was adding pictures I found this which is an example a bike with a small tank taking one of the longer rides to Dug Bar. Asrvivor strapped an inexpensive one gallon gas can to the back of his bike. If I'm not mistaken it was a last minute idea on his part. John tell eveyone a little about this.... This was your first big motorcycle trip wasn't it? You've come a long way in a short amount of time.

LB, I was looking over the rides that you put together and got to thinking, I don't think they are paying you enough for all the work you do on this! Thanks for all the effort that you have put it to this! Looking forward to it! :clap:clap:clap

    Imnaha Loop<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
The road to Imnaha the start for a few different rides and it can be turned into a loop on it&#8217;s own. Here are two options:
    <o:p></o:p>
About 110 miles. No fuel available until you get back to Joseph or Enterprise. Zumwalt Rd., Campcreek Rd, and Upper Imnaha Rd all dirt. A bit of FS39 which is paved.
    [IMG]<o:p></o:p>

    <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Loop 2 is a little is a shorter easy ride including Zumwalt and Campcreek, you&#8217;ve heard people talk about these roads. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
About 70 miles, no fuel along the way but there is a lunch spot.

If you do one of the Imnaha Loops and want to add a little to it take a ride up to Hat Point.
    <o:p></o:p>
From camp it’s about a 100 mile round trip. It’s about 25 miles from Imnaha to the lookout.
