    BLUE RIDGE MEET N GREET
    (KLR Cattle Call II)

    SATURDAY, JULY 7, 2012

    Destination:
    Devils Backbone Brewing Company
200 Mosbys Run, Roseland, VA 22967
    (434) 361-1001 ‎

This was a good days riding last year so lets try it again...Maybe VATrader will show up...

A one day ride that is central to most in the region, and allows everyone to get back home again without violating terms of their kitchen passes. TWO UP FRIENDLY RIDE.

OTHERS...And for the other bikes that want to come and bask in the power and precision the follows KLRs across the world, you can park at the end of the row and no trash talking. (and you can buy beer for the KLR guys.).

A local after lunch ride might be nice and we had a small camping group last year and that may happen again.

Start eating and drinking around Noon.
Reservations made for 40 to 60.
I will update the numbers as we get closer.

    On the proposal table:

    A) Northern Virginia and area riders to converge on Front Royal, VA., and ride Skyline Drive to Roseland.

It's not single track, it's not dirt. It is a great, scenic, slow paced ride, accommodating all skill levels.
Ten bucks for a NP motorcycle pass, good for a week. 105 miles of wonderland with 75 overlooks.
Thinking about an 8:00 AM departure, putting us in Roseland around noon.

    B) Roanoke, VA. and area riders will meet up on Route 220 and run the Blue Ridge Parkway to Roseland.
(your name here) will coordinate the efforts there.

    C) NOVA riders meeting up at Cracker Barrel, 10801 Battleview Parkway, Manassas, VA 20109-2349.
7:00 AM-ish depart for Front Royal and the Skyline Drive. (your name here) handling coordination efforts,

    D) Eastern Virginia riders, well it sucks. You get to slab it.

    E) Tidewater / Richmond...Still looking for someone to coordinate a group.
Great pay and benefits. Apply by PM, or declare your intent in the thread.

    F) West Virginia? US 250 or US 60. Lots of other options, none real bad.

I'm gonna try to keep the list of participants, and identify local contacts but if you want to put together local meetup points just add them to the thread.

    Keep in touch.

For any riders inclined to include additional dirtyness, there are two somewhat challenging jeep trails (knobbies, skid plates, and sobriety highly recommended) within about 30 minutes of Roseland......just sayin'

The Shoe Creek jeep trail has a few rocky water crossings and elevation changes that can be "entertaining". The Sherondo jeep trail "entertainment" sources are rocky elevation changes mingled with some sandy sections.

Hey Ed, consider me In on this ride as long as the work schedule doesn't throw a monkey wrench in the works.

I may even try and come up with a fun route to ride to & from Roseland for those that might be interested.

On the KLR Forum I suggested that after the lunch at Devil's Backbone, that we take a ride down to 56 and go up Meadow Lane (which leads to Shoe Creek).

The dirt road to the top of Crabtree Falls (Meadow Lane) is also the way to Shoe Creek. Beyond the trailhead is not advisable for the for the unskilled and unconfident. KLR is definitely not the best bike to navigate Shoe Creek with, and I would rather come UP, than try going down it.

Certainly, we could all go to the trailhead at the top of Crabtree Falls (easier) and hangout while those who want to explore further do so. I'm betting that most will turn around at some point and come back to the trailhead. That's fine. No shame in it. It is fun to see how far you can get before you start feeling uncomfortable...about your beer foamin' up, of course.

By the way, it comes out at the Little Piney River near Lowesville, VA. (Alhambra Rd.) And it's a short ride to Amherst, VA or back to the Parkway from there if you know the way.

Good idea there Draley; count me in. Hell, I may be one of the ones feeling more adventurous! Even though I bet that halfway through it I'll be wishing the KLR weighed 100lbs less! :lol3

If you choose to go up shoe creek make sure you have either stainless growlers or something to wrap the glass ones in so they do not break. Just saying.
Or better yet go back and fill up later.

    I'm good for camping.
There are at least a couple of sites to choose that we saw last year,
from but if someone with local knowledge could offer a range of suggestions. that would be good.
