Looks like the stock blinker and exhaust do not play well together, not a big surprise.
Will KTM ever fix this bad design. Geese. Fail. Get the Euro tail w/the sicass flushmount blinkers. Love mine.
sooooo after reading pages of internet rumors about unlocking the ecu and calls to dealership and sicass bla bla bla .... for mild and wild plugs i decided to just order a set they were 30bucks to the door.....i tested on a mx track yesterday the first moto i got a feel for bike lap after lap 2nd moto i added WILD plug from sicass racing ..wholy kraaaap the power hits waaay harder and faster one section of track had a uphill sandy section the bike exploded up the hill it really is a night and day differance.. i could not believe how aggressive the bike felt it felt like a factory 450 supercross bike .. my bike is desmogged with a jd tuner ..i am not over-exaggerating
when i say the wild plug is awesome .... ? about all the unlocking bs ..it works on my bike just fine...after 4 motos yesterday 2 krashes .. i feel like some won hit me with a sludge hammer 100 times lol
Did you have the JD tuner set to the recommended settings for the 500? Also, did you try the WILD plug without the JD tuner?
Yes For my jd. tuner iwent back to recommended settings...and no I did not try with out. ..once I make changes I like to leave alone ... I don't want to confuse my bike. I'm afraid if I ever put the mild plug in...imy bike will think its on vacation lol. The bike even sounds better it's kinda hard to explain in stead of a 4stroke sound it now has a deep factory electric sound healthy real healthy my bike has never ran so good. Disclaimer for off road use only
EXC or XC-W? 350 or 500?
I was just thinking about the maintenance of this engine and started looking at the manual.
At 105 hours, KTM is calling for the following:
Change spark Plug and Connector
Change Connecting Rod, Bearing and Crank Pin
Change the Piston
There are other "checks", but these stood out to me.
At 41 hours (1100 miles) of riding, I feel like I'm just starting to break in the bike. I can't see how the above items need to be change at such an early stage in the bike's life......
That is if you race the bike and want it in top condition.
My old wr400f manual said to replace piston/rings...etc. every 400 miles. It was never done after over 8000 miles.
Just ride it.
So I see that Just Gas Tanks has the Acerbis 5.3 gallon tank out for ~$340.....
Anybody try this yet.....
i would highly reccomd getting a jd tuner first ...
get the bike running richer...
these bikes are soo lean from the factory
using this plug could be a recipe for disaster ......

I am riding with this guy and his new bike with no miles on it is idling way to high. And he left the manual at home any suggestions?
Turn down the idle?
Ya we looked for an adjustment knob. But we just blind
It's tucked up in there pretty tight. Left hand side, up, nearly under the gas tank.... it's there, black knurled knob
Swapped out the gears on my EXC yesterday (14/48 NOW) and took it for a spin in the mountains today. Picking my way down one of the dirt roads and I still think I need lower gearing. I'm not a very experienced off-road rider yet, so others would probably like what I've got to work with for the type of riding that I do. I found myself going back and forth between 1st and 2nd. This particular road is in fairly good condition and I was riding in the downhill direction. It isn't the type of road that inspires confidence though. While it's not heavily rutted or washed out, it does have some loose dirt over a lightly rutted hard base but what forces me to be cautious at my skill level is that it is heavily strewn with loose rocks varying from 1" to fist sized. I haven't been down on this bike yet (I know that it's coming eventually) but I really don't what to eat it on this particular road since it will probably be in a corner and there is NO shoulder and the average drop off the outside of a corner is 30'. Bouncing between 1st and 2nd isn't making my life any easier.
I've got a 13T CS sprocket, will that be enough of an additional difference or will I have to replace the rear as well? I figured that the 48T rear would be sufficient so I bought a good one the first time around so I'd hate to have to go with a different one.
ETA: I'm about 225# without gear. I know the rear in particular is soft for my weight. What rate spring do I need to firm it up?

Pretty slow in this thread for now it looks like. I am also very interested in any experience with the larger tank, tire of lugging around an extra gallon and a half in my back pack.
I had a long ride last weekend, about 300 miles mostly dirt and know some of the ergonomics changes I need to do very soon. The seat is torture, need a higher seat, lower pegs, taller bars with some risers. Probably going to go with the dirt bike highway guards, riser for a Scott damper and their top brace. I am 6' 6" tall and can not stand on the bike at all as it is now.
Hopefully everybody is out riding!! I wish I was, haven't even fired up my bike, its sitting waiting for the suspension to be put back on. I am waiting for the suspension so I can put it back on. Sent it to Super Plush Suspension, there gonna do it right for me, DLC coating and revalved and resprung.
Nobody has a torque spec for the top engine mount bolts? I asked the local dealership and they don't even know??
Look in the manual that came w/ the bike. towards the back of the book are torque specs for the bike. I don't have mine w/ me at the moment but will check when I gat a chance. You could check ktmtalk.com as well-wealth of info there.
