He does deserve some credit for being the breadwinner in the family, but he'll finish out with zero professional titles.

He may also have a bit harder time transitioning into an industry job of some sort with his history, but I guess if Ryno can do it he can too. :lol3

Lampi is buddies with Hammer. Lampi is from Fishkill and I've seen him go from Super Mini's to pro. He missed the LCQ xfer spot by one at Southwick last year, his first national. Unadilla, not so good. I've seen him ride a lot. Hammer ventures over here a little and I've seen him ride, him and Lampi were pretty close in skill 2 years ago, it will be interesting to see who does better on the big stage. Hammer did turn pro within the last few months. He knows who I am I've posted some pics of him on his facebook and he came up to me at Southwick to say hi. Just a young skinny wisp of a kid who can ride the wheels off a bike. Pretty elite company just getting the pro license (I think) , the big question now is can he or any of them compete with dozens as equally capable. The men from the boys it's got to be SO competitive at that level on big bikes. No more super mini's or B class cake walks. I can't wait to see them both have at it at the nationals, being a northeast rider they can hit a half dozen races easy. Time will tell. I've also seen Melissa ride over here a few times, and she rode Southwick last year, probably previous years too but no more women at the nationals, or at least only 2 nationals. Not sure what happened there. I've also been watching Catanzaro's results. Do you know what number we wore the last few years before he turned pro?

It's a secret RF transmitter that randomly fries the stator on the other bikes. :lol3

I taped a show about RV a few weeks ago. Really made me think about some things. RV doesn't love riding like most of us do. It's hard to picture him on a dp bike or gold wing in the future.

He's a racer. The bike is his medium to race and win.

By legitimate I mean is there any proof or reason to say RC in particular was using enhancement drugs? If not why bring it up? Which argument's sake?
I guess its the internet and people tend to ramble on about anything.

Yeah internet conspiracy theories keep anything from being great or worthy to aspire to. We're racing to the cynical bottom in society.

It's not like RC always dominated everything... he had sometimes better lines and better consistency that squeezed out a few tenths per lap. But he didn't always win either. Here's McGrath vs RC from 2002

JMG was my favorite! He's racing trophy trucks today.

Those two announcers were my favorite too.

Ah the good old days. I still remember watching the superbikers in the 80's. That was the best racing ever!

because it is reasonable to bring it up given all the dynamics involved particularly when the title of goat is being bandied about.

He doesn't seem like a very happy person, despite(or because of)his success.

Cant we just enjoy what he did on a bike and not drag things down in the dirt? He took lots of hard crashes and survived, hes funny to watch learning the English language on the telly, still brings a bike out and rides for fun. I was never a huge RC fan but hes put in a lot of pain and hard work to get where he is.

I also think his mom would kick his ass if she thought he was doing bad things, she looks plenty tough.

RV has said this whole bike racing thing isnt the end-all for him,I can see him retiring early and moving on to something else,it's his life.
Its a huge high stress deal to be expected to win everytime out on the track,if any of us had to line up behind the gate at a giant Stadium and pin it to win it, there would be some dirty shorts involved and trips to the infirmary.
He does it all the time.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

But! Hangtown is coming up pretty quick! This year I will NOT sunburn the crap out of myself,a low rider folding chair will be taken, not forgotten like last year, with luck Dungey and RV will both be healthy, same with Davi and all the other fast guys.
Not much of a break between SX and MX anymore.

You should have seen JMG on a 2500cc Nitro burning Harley hillclimb bike in Billings! I even bought the video, the noise that bike makes grunting and blasting up the hill is amazing!
He tried it but was faster on a CR500 all set up for the hill.
It was his first hillclimb and got 2nd overall.
And hes ridden Erzeberg and did pretty well for a 1 off deal,he IS the man!

fair enough and a good counterpoint. I never doubted his hard work and desire. I wish I'd have seen him ride in his prime. To be honest he's one of the reasons I got caught up in SX. Probably his last season when there was the occasional Sunday broadcast of a SX race on CBS I remember him making whoops seem like they were basically flat he was flying over them like a magic carpet.
