the engine/tranny swap with Marek Dabrowski went ahead then Floods rules post below comes into play... I think in the interest of a good race they should allow it... But they need to make these sort of allowances for non elite riders as well :deal

no spare motors were marked at Scrutineering at the start, not this year nor 2012 Dakar

In Feral5's post, These 3 elements are indissociable during the length of the race.

What is the definition of 'race'?That day's stage.
    That day's competitive?
    The complete event?

In the TV commentary, it is continually infered that each competitive is a race in itself.

If the definition is limited to the competitive sections, then there is a number of races. Engine swap legalities would vary accordingly.

As far as Grabb'o slipping from 3rd, the main group were following the leader 50k's from the finish and got led up the wrong path, they all lost about 1/2 an hour.[/QUOTE]

That doesn't make sense to me Grabbo is a leader not a follower. He would be kicking himself for been lead up the garden path

it was pissing with rain and hard to see, plus the next 10km of the course sort of matched the roadbook, until it was clear it was the wrong creek bed

There's a lot of Cyril goes that way we better follow going on this year. :deal The younger faster riders seem to be using him as a tour guide when they hit the more navaguessie sections :scratch maybe he led them up the path to teach them a lesson. :brow

Good to see it hasn't hurt his overall time, sound like they have had every condition thrown at them, and all the Aussie's are doing a great job.

A bit like Robby`s flip over, and Hans Stacy`s Iveco lay-on-side; could they have been going any slower?

Spewing for Olholm. Original decision to neutralise at WP9 gave him 7th, 12th overall. New decision to award everyone Peterhansel's arrival time gives him the same as stage 7. 18th, 15th overall.

If Cyril really wanted to do their heads in, he should lead them up the garden path, have a 'mechanical issue', then after they all continue the wrong way, turn around and get back on the proper track.

Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill!:rofl

Cyril went the worng way as well, just that by the time he came along the others had headed back again to the original track so he was lost for a shorter time than them.........remember he started quite a bit later due to his slow Day 7 time re the 5th gear issue

Damien Grabham told me how he and Cyril went around in circles for 30min together on Safari 2011..............so while he is good, even the best get it wrong at times

Can anybody in the circus tell me about the Chinese guy's bike, is it really Chinese, or a KTM with red paint? His bio is pretty cool:
Looks like I have some research to do on Peterhansel, thanks for that Desertboner!

S Berg, no worries about the best getting it wrong, it's more that Cyril was having a sook about all the people who follow him.....

He had a steering failure, which sent the car to the left and off the little gully on the side of the road. Was an odd one for sure but the failure was in the metal and not in the organic component. :rofl

I'm recording every SBS 5.30pm episode if anyone wants copies at the end I'll be happy to send them for the cost of the USB sticks and postage

Update: due to several PM's I'll add that I will need to check how much memory capcity will be needed and will post on here when I know how much space it takes up.

Cost: I want to add that for any copyright considerations, I am not seeking any compensation for this, I'm duplicatiing it for private use only and the only cost would be for the postage to you if you post me the USB stick. Due to the number of people that have enquired, I would rather you send me an empty USB stick.

    Stay tuned for details
