    I'm thinking the better it sells here, the more likely we are to get these juicy JM accessories out of Honda's grubby little hands (without paying an importers way marked up'ed prices). Now someone just needs to produce a nice backrest...my GF won't ride without one :baldy

    I hope they come out with something other than that Burgundy red... I've owned far too many burgundy vehicles in my lifetime for being so young.

    That middle-blue that Hondas used to come with would be great.

    I think that tall seat Looks better.

    I'm 5'10 and it fit me just fine. I also owned a CB1100F Which fit fine too. I think it may have been a bit bigger though.

    I plan on giving it a chance. I will have the money by the time it is released. I already like the way it looks. Comfort will be the deciding factor. If it is all day comfortable, I will almost certainly get one. But if it has low bars and rearsets, it's out. Hard to tell from the pictures. I have put off buying any other bike until I have had a chance to check this one out.

    As for chain drive, modern chains do not require that much maintenance. My current shaft drive cruiser requires that the entire rear end be torn apart every 10,000 miles for maintenance. Both mufflers, both shocks, the rear wheel, brake rod, torque arm, final drive gearcase, and driveshaft have to come off. Getting the driveshaft back into the U joint is a nightmare, usually takes about an hour. I generally spread this job over 2-3 days. If a shaft drive bike were like a shaft drive car, I'd love it. And it could be. The Goldwing already uses the final drive oil to lubricate the rear splines, it would not be difficult to design the front splines so they would be lubricated by engine oil. The main advantage I see to shaft drive is that it positively locates the rear wheel in the swingarm, creating a much stronger structure. It can't slide forward or backward or wind up out of alignment.

    Honda will not stop trying to cater to a cruiser-based mentality that it has to look 'cool' and be blacked out or something.

    But you know what?

    Let's say I get back into a financial situation where I could buy a new one this year (which should happen)... that I can see, the only part that is painted red is the tank? If that's the case, I could deal with having to have the tank painted and striped myself.

    The blue I'm looking for is close to:

    I was at the Minneapolis show too and snapped a few pictures. Lighting wasn't that great, nor is my camera. So keep that in mind please. Someone else mentioned that there wasn't much interest in the bike, but I found quite the opposite both days I was at the show -- it drew as much interest, if not more, than any bike I saw there -- and I went to visit it about 6 separate times....:D

    I sat on the bike and found it comfortable for me at 5'10". A fairly compact riding position for an 1100 for sure. But then again I ride a HawkGT and find that bike perfectly comfortable.

    Thanks for the pictures!

    I'm looking forward to seeing it in NYC this weekend. Hopefully there they will have it on the center stand, so you can really sit on it and feel the weight, etc.

    Just do what I did -- I informed the Honda rep. that it was about to go up on the centerstand and then proceeded to lift it up. They're pretty easy going at the shows with people crawling all over the bikes and what not.

    On a side note, one of the Honda reps didn't even know what size the motor was! We had to tell him....:eek1

    I was at the MPLS show as well and asked a Honda guy about the redline differences between the NC700x and the CB500x. He didn't know.

    I suspect he's a newbie sales guy for a local dealer. Probably sold shoes before motorcycles. :rofl

    I sat on the CB1100 and found it quite comfortable. Noticed quite a few folks eyeing it up.

    That sweet blue CB750 (which I think looks way better than the new 1100) is a standard, and the pegs and bars appear to be in the same position on the 1100. Yet Honda has it under "sport" on their site. The U.S. version does have a black engine, which unfortunately will soon become a gray engine, but it does have a bright cam cover, and chrome fenders and sidecovers. I think painted sidecovers would look better, but I'm sure that could be done, as they probably just plastic chrome. The 4 pipes on the original look a lot better than the one on the new bike (for some reason, every time you find a nice vintage bike, it has an aftermarket exhaust) and probably sound better too. In fact that may be the reason the early models sound better than the later models.It is not the kind of bike that I would put a windshield on, but nylon saddlebags, tank bag, and tail pack should be good for 2-3 days. It's too pretty to mess up with hard luggage or anything bolt on.

    Jerry, as far as I could tell, the sidecovers are painted metallic silver, so they would be easy enough to repaint if one decided to.
