Isn't this just the big chain guide on top of the swingarm?? It does it on my 1190R, but it looks like its juts the chain getting "wiped" clean in that guide

The guide is really deep and looks quite solid, i cant see any stepping in the side-plate of the chain so it doesn't look like wear.

I have had a good crawl along the whole chain run and cant see anything else that would/could cause it, i can happily live with a plastic chain guide polishing my chain, dont think there is anything to worry about

Are the grey piece of metal on each siden of the std 1190 or some kind of crash protectors? The R version doesn't have them but have the crach bars instead. And it seems that you need to remove the grey parts on the std 1190 when you want to install the crash bars?

The gps holder is at the dealers. The bike is going in for 1st service and gps fitting on Monday :bubba:slurp. Hopefully the luggage won't be too long behind and I can plan trips longer than a day or two.

Look upon them as being 'sacrificial' protectors. They are only plastic so will not really help if the bike goes down hard. If the bike just falls over or is dropped at low speed, the protectors will take the bulk of the impact/damage rather than the tank.

In the UK a tank is about £1,050, the plastic protector is a lot less.......

That is the situation in the UK - all production planned for the UK market has been allocated to dealers - dealers may have still have some of those bikes still available but not many......

Situation may be different in other countries though
