Good, gives me more time to save my pennies.....
This is what I'm thinking too. And it'll give some time for problems to start popping up, etc.
Just to let you know how it will work here in Italy:
We will be able to buy the new ktm at the end of February or first week of march.
Price 14850 adv 1190 - avd R 14950
I have to say, the 1190R is looking more and more attractive.
But I still prefer the look of the 990R.
And I hate waiting.
And that being said, with the 1190R's beak how would a high fender mod work out?
Call from dealer today. 1190: $ 20.995 1190R: $ 21.995 (Not sure if was 995 or 495....) Plus on roads
Is this more or less of what you thought it would be? Just checking....
In Australia it looks like a rather good deal.
We have a 10 per cent tax on everything, so the $2k over $20K for the "R" goes to the government. (And that is before dealer delivery, registration and establishment of title, which will add a further $1500 to these.)
In the context of recent history, it's great.
To give you some perspective, the "R" is $1K less than a Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX.
About $500 more than a base model air-cooled BMW GS. (And $1500 less than the base GS Adventure.)
About $1K more than a Honda Crosstourer DCT.
About $2K more than a Yam Super Tenere, although these are being offered with bags now and discounted further, as I believe are the Hondas.
About $1K less than a Duc Multistrada base, and $7K less than the Ohlins versions. (Skyhook bikes not yet priced, although the official word to dealers so far is "same as it ever was".)
And perhaps most pertinently, about the same as the KTM 990Rs have been going for in the lead-up.
Prices generally are dropping here as the exchange rate rides the oil, gas and iron boom.
For a bit more perspective: I have responded previously to two local posters on this thread who had feared the 1190 R would cost more than $28K RRP.
Oh, and to Niko, thanks for the confirmation.
But prob worth adding that for you guys in the 'states it will likely go the other way.
Our dollar has been trading about the same as yours. So, all else equal we should pay your price plus our GST (tax).
Meaning you'll be charged $20K for the 1190R when they arrive late next year, given similar profit margins on both sides of the deal.
The reality is, it is in the interest of both sides to give you guys a break.
But over the longer term, it will even out.
Especially as it appears your government is working hard to keep your currency cheap, so that people elsewhere can buy more of what you make.
Which probably means you should snap up a 990 at current prices.
If they were $15K RRP here, they'd be on every street corner.
I truly hope the 1190 starts out around 16500 here in the states. This might be dreaming, and so be it, I'm allowed to have my dream.
But I will have a hard time stretching to $20K...too many options out there for that kind of dough!
Time to will tell, and we keep watching, thanks to you guys for keeping us informed.
Merry Christmas to you all!
this seems really cheap for a new katoi in Oz .i have been trawling bikesales for second hand one but they seem to be really exxy compared to the new ones..i need a new bike but cannot decide on exxy $ secoind hand super farkled or scooter or just suck it up and buy a new one.(i will keep my old bike anyway ).i see all the "adv" bikes have come down quite considerably here in oz as a farkled gsa was over 30k not a few years back(i know i have had two since upgrading my old gspd).i would like to have a crack at the ktm but lack of knowledge on this bike is holding me back not just the price.seems a 950se would be a great replacement for a world traveller.
if any of you have adviice on which or what pleez send me info as i am like a puppy drooling over ads for sale right now.well frik its xmas and the world was ending so.......
anyone been to the show could you please let me know if the 1190r is gonna be at this years show
For 20k it better fly or have the same warranty as a bmw. I could get two nice 990's for that much.
Or come with a removable off road side car!
So, the 1190 is not in KTM's 013 line up.
