We got snowed out at the BORDER that first week in Jan. 2 ins of snow and coming down at Las Palomas/ Columbus crossing. 4,000 ft on our way to 7,000 feet in the mountains? oh HELL NO Luckily I was with my long time riding buddy with many trips to Mexico together and nothing to prove. We bailed on the CC idea and spent 6 days riding southern AZ and NM trying to stay out of the mountains . Froze our asses off ! Most days it never got above the 30's. 1,500 mile loop back to Santa Fe where the high the next day was 20. Maybe this fall ?

My place in Wisconsin is totally available. Also I'm working on getting access to another 500 acres with established ATV trails that will be partly-doable on dual purpose bikes.

This year the barn will be cleaned up and the loft available for as many campers as want to fit. It's going to be a big open lounge, with couches, flat screen TV, beer cooler, etc. Combination yoga studio/man cave, with room for bikes downstairs.

I'd also absolutely fucking love to ride Copper Canyon. It's on my to-do list. This spring was supposed to be the summer of my Europe ride, but it's getting pushed back by a year. Copper Canyon better live up to the hype.

I was wondering, the tail of the Rockies can be hard to pass to Cooper Canyon that time of year. I went down in 2008 and run into a blizzard in the high peublo of San Juanito making my way to Creel. Had to follow bus tracks through the snow over the pass and then it was fine and cold until I got down in the bottom of the canyons.

You've got plenty of time, myself and a group of ADVers from the Tulsa area are contemplating a ride down around October?? Make for a great time to be in the area.

Glad you could find a good alternative to snow riding:lol3

About 5 miles from where we were last year now I have another 350 acres and it has about 10 miles of dirt bike trails, and a professionally built dirtbike course. It's winter now so I've only skied some of it and walked some of it but from what I can tell you ff's will love it.

Also today I saw about 20 bald eagles and I almost hit 4 deer.

I'm going to try to do a CC ride this summer or fall. When I say "try," I mean that I'm at about 95%.

    1) The bike is ready. It just needs to have the ohlins rebuilt and I don't like how the dealer installed the old PIAA's but I could ride with them as they are and maybe get the ohlins rebuilt in Mexico before I tackle anything rough.

I skied the new farm again today and I'm having more fun than I thought I'd have. The dirtbike course has a few jumps and whoops and some stuff that's steeper than I'd ever want to tackle on a GS but a 650 would be ok for training and learning, although an actual dirtbike would be best.

Unlike where we were last year, the new farm has a big hay field about a mile from the end of a dirt road where we could make as much noise as we want.

    Alan! There will be shooting.

How long are you in Mexico and where are you? In May I might be riding to Tucson for my daughter's graduation (straight A's, then off to the University of Wisconsin Medical School with a full scholarship!) and I might as well hit Copper Canyon and get my teeth done.
