I'll be there on Thursday and ready to ride and enjoy the company.
Hope the weather cleared up..... We were heavy fog and mist here in Colorado springs until about 10am......then the clouds began to build.....and massive thunderstorms later today. Love the moisture!!!!!
See you in a day or two!
Since 4 pm the rain has been hitting with 20 minute intervals. Not torrential, but with a few microbursts to elevate a few unsecured tarps, but all the damage done today, was on the trail. One WR coming down from Kendal mountain, had a spill. That trail was a handful, with off camber sections, loose, and cowboys on ATV's not having good trail attitude, but all that went away, when you get up there, and see the beauty. What a blessing. Fantabolous.
Simply amazing, to get this thread moved the day before the event. Simply amazing.
It was moved by request of the OP.
Unless directly contradicting yourself is some super sekrit literary tactic that wasn't taught where I went to school, I'm absolutely not seeing your "argument".
1) Rick started the "Eastern Rendezvous", colloquially refered to as "Rendezvous"
2) Rick passed away, it is now "Rick's Rendezvous"
3) This event is called "Rocky Mountain Adventure Rider's Rendezvous"
4) You are complaining that the name should be changed, because it is 100% not at all the same as some other gathering, on the other side of the country, due to some slight perceived by unnamed parties besides yourself.
Bonus points for attempting to question my intelligence via ad hominem. Oh, sweet irony.
Anyways, have fun arguing on the internet, I'm going to get ready to ride tomorrow.
Yet, you felt compelled to jump into the middle. Interesting.
Steep, Rocky Jeep Trail up the Mtn to the Tower is AWSOME
I broke my Chain up on Top my last Visit, & left it on the Trailside as a Souvenir I coasted over 6 miles back down to the River
NO, their ain't no snakes at that elevation.
Fair enough.... Thanks.
Is my "donation" tax deductable?
As John already mentioned, we are registered in Colorado as a non profit.
This means that just like the many thousands of other state nonprofit organizations across the country, we can't issue federal tax deductible certificates until after we are apply for and are approved as federal 501c3 organization.
In due time, we hope to be able to be a 501c3, but as you may have noticed in the news, the current administration is making this a challenging and expensive endeavor.
Now to your point of "donation" in quotes...
All of our events are held in appreciation for our contributors. To be invited to the RMAR Rendezvous, a person makes a Bronze level donation. For an invitation to a point to point ride, they would make a Silver or Gold level donation.
If you'd like to discuss this further as a man, without all the snide comments and such here on the internet, please send me your phone number and I'll call you. The RMAR Rendezvous starts today, so I'll be a little busy for the next few days, but I will call if you're up to have a real discussion.
If you show up here this weekend, come see me and you can be my personal guest and I'll pay your donation out of my pocket. You can see who we are, you can talk to anyone here about who we are and how we roll. I suspect your opinion and attitude about us will change.
RMAR President and Director of Operations
Then the low clouds came......Drizzle, but a very refreshing sight to wake up to.
I am taking off here soon and excited to partake in this event. Hope to roll in after lunch.
Thank you to John, Mac, Modette and the RMAR gang for organizing this event and the effort for attempting to organize the sport. Most have no idea the level of personal commitment/ time/ sacrifice these guys make for the cause including COHVCO, TPA and all the others out there working to protect our sport/ hobby.
Lets put our minor differences to the side and move our sport forward and have a good time. See you there and let's ride
Yesterday from Kendal mountain. Steep, and loose.....
This morning at camp.....
Have fun! Sorry I am missing it this year. Family trip.
SgtMarty, I hope I get to meet you over the weekend and shake your hand. One of your ride reports 3 or 4 years ago really got me into Adventure Riding / Dual Sport riding. I traveled along to Alaska and beyond each morning when I logged into the forum. It was probably the first epic ride report I ever read!
Been having a blast riding around the San Juans all week and meeting some great people on the trails and passes!
Thank you so much for letting us leave our trailer and car at your place. Looking forward to seeing you at the rendezvous!
No shine this year:-( My connection couldn't make it happen before we headed out. It was a pleasure having dinner with you and Christine tonight.
