your bike was built on a Wednesday and therefore shipped on the following Wednesday. That boat already arrived in New York Harbor and your bike should've already been at the BMW vehicle preparation center in New Jersey. Because your dealer is in New Jersey that bike should be coming to you any second. You need to call your dealer tomorrow and ask them where your bike is because I believe it should already be in your possession

if yours was built on August 19 then you should be getting your bike by the end of this month because you are on the East Coast

the ship your bike was on should've arrived in the United States around 12 September so it should be arriving at your dealer any day

that information is a very useful reminder of the usual timing of build and delivery.
Thanks so much for reminding us of these facts here

Same dealer. Mine was built Aug 18th. Told today that it's in customs somewhere. Expecting it at the dealers next week....

give it 2 weeks to get from the port to florida
CUSTOMS... and all that "stuff" can delay it THAT long
but, a bit sooner might be the case, as well
    good luck

I was just wondering how long it has been taking for peoples bikes to be built from when they put there order in?

Hopefully next week, and a bit longer than I was originally told. Although to be fair I was told that it would be "around" 30 days from when it was built.

The riding weather is just about perfect now and while my trusty little F800R is fine, I'm itching to get my hands on the GS...

I think it depends. Assuming bike allocations are similar to car allocations (used to be a BMW car dealer) they usually happen once a month, sometimes more if there's extra capacity available.

The dealer will typically specific all their sold orders and then if any things left they will specify stock units (although I don't think this is happening a lot for GSs, as my dealer said 4 of his incoming 5 were pre-sold custom orders). There's a window where they can modify a unit until it gets locked in. I was fortunate when I ordered mine that my dealer was able to modify an incoming stock unit to exactly what I wanted. So from my putting down a deposit to when it was built was a week or so.....ymmv with individual dealers.

    Hello All,

I did not get around to ordering one. My dealer said that they would probably be able to accommodate me when the bikes start coming in. So I said Ok, call me when they come in.

So yesterday they called and sure enough they have a well equipped thunder grey model with the spoke wheels just as I wanted. Hoping to pick it up later this week!:clap

So the 2014 bikes are arriving on the east coast this week!

    That is very exciting.
That would never work out around my dealer since every bike is spoken for they are likely to get this year.
Contributing to that is, of course, because we can ride 12 months a year and your riding season is about ready to end.
That being said, I hope you will safely ride in the winter because the bike is surely made for that sort of thing (and EVERYTHING else)
thanks for letting us know about your good luck and I hope that you will post some pictures and a nice ride report as soon as you can.
Good luck to you and thanks for letting us know
