Yep...I am coming, but will be tenting it.
I think this would be a blast! I was going to ask if it is big bike or little bike, but it looks from the pics and video, little bike.
I'll have to see where I am then, but I might be able to make the trek over there.
All bikes have ample amounts of spectacular riding. Some of the big bike riders seem to do more daytime drinking and less picture taking on the trail and the lightweights binge drink at night to dull the pain. YRMV
Ouch...that hurts! Not as bad as my hangover did Sunday morning...
People bring what they bring but all bikes are plated. And a lot are Adventure bikes. That is just one riders video.
It's about 1k miles one way for me and I'd rather do that on the pig, than with the little bike on the hitch carrier, but we'll see if I can get away for this.
The single track looks really nice there and I wanted to get to CO/UT this year at some point, but was thinking it would most likely be on the pig as it's faster and more economical.
I have to wait and see how some things are going to see if I can make it for this.
Note to self....
Leave the fruit out of the shine but bring more shine
Those that are adventure riders, through and through.....will pack their adventure bikes and ride away from the house. This is the way that I started this whole thing.....packing my bike and making an adventure ride from the house, and back home.
I would say that about 50% of the attendees come on big adventure bikes, VStrom650's and larger. They ride in and either have a cabin/motel.....or they tent camp.
The event is for everyone, as the city of Silverton has even made it legal to ride "unplated" bikes through town to get to the OHV trailheads.
I don't do motels often. The GSA is wonderful for stuff just like this and I've done countless 1000+ mile weekends on it. Since I put new shocks on it, I've started doing hard stuff with it again. However, when I was in Baja a couple months ago, I bent my brand new Woody's front wheel (that replaced the bent OEM one, and he's straightened the rear for me as well) I'll have to get that done prior to putting big miles on again and toy money is tight right at this moment.
So have no fear of me being willing to put miles on the bike, or do it off road (most of the inmates around here that know me might vouch). It's more timing than anything.
The little women wants to go.. Any rides for two up?
Paging Todd from TN...
He did a bunch of two up riding with his wife.
There are plenty of dirt road options, from mellow to things a little more aggressive. There is also some of the best paved twistys, if you want to just do some fun loops on slab. There is also some great singletrack. It doesn't really matter what you bring, have fun doing whatever during the day, even just being a tourist and cruising the town and mine tour for a day. The campfires and camaraderie is the best part!
There will be a handful of 2-up pairs on the bigger bikes and the area has awesome riding for these folks. There are three big loops of pavement only (200-300 miles), or several options at dirt road and jeep trail rides....accommodating all levels of riding skills and flavors of country to explore.
The wife and I ride about 3,000-5,000 miles a year, 2-up in Colorado and it is just fabulous.
This event has been added to my calendar and I will see you gentlemen and ladies in a few months.
I got space #10.
There goes the neighberhood......LOL 2nd note to self bring even more adult beverages.....
Rick in #11, Gordy in #10, what could possibly go wrong...
That will teach you to publish your address!!
I noticed A and B RV Park on the Silverton website; is this where people who are camping will be staying?
