Went to the local powersports megamart today. They had both the red and orange FZ's sitting beside each other. Not bashing anyone with red, but the metallic orange paint just pops, for me. It looked like a spotlight was shining on the orange one but it just seems to reflect light better.

Now I really do need to come up with the funds to put one in my garage, as that paint scheme is better than the orange XR1200 I had, and it was beautiful.

Its fits great for the mad city of NYC. I got mine 8500 otd, Prospect Powersports- the only dealers (esp the owner) who seemed like genuine folks not pushing anything on me.

I believe Motorcycle Mall in NJ has a demo bike-call them and check.

If the front fender and rear side panels were orange . . . I would have grabbed it too. It is definitely an exciting bike to ride.

I am guessing they could not match the orange metallic gas tank paint with a plastic fender/fork guard hugger . . . Or, rear plastic side panels.

And that's why they offer variety: I liked the orange better than the red (but just barely.) because the front fender and side panels weren't orange. I like the matte look, w/just that nice, bright splash of orange in the middle. Almost went red...

Finally got to ride mine last weekend. Had to haul to Mississippi to do it, but I couldn't stand it any more! :twitch

Short vid stitching some clips together. I was playing with different microphone mounting spots.

And on the way back, had to deal with reality. This is what I woke up to in the hotel at Sikeston, Mo on Sunday morning. Swell.:huh
Bike, car and trailer had a layer of ice. LOOOONG drive home...

It has been an unusual winter everywhere.

Isn't that their spl production model? Added plastics and different flatter seat. Don't think it will be here for a while, if ever. Probably something on it somewhere in this thread. tp dd50

It is the stock shield off my V-Strom (via a 2" S bracket and V "H" bracket):
It works very well reducing the wind off the upper body with no buffeting.

As expected, the 09 will go into a tourer, and 07 will probably go into a
    Versys/NC700X like bike.

I think Yamaha will make an ADV bike based on the FZ-09 platform. The MT-07 would be a good one too.

The 07 will probably be used like Honda has used their 500 and 700 twins. Lowto medium HP specs to be sellable world wide. The 09 triple isn't sold everywhere and because of that, there's a good chance that models based on that engine will be their strong mid sized line. The Triumph 800 and 800XC own that range currently, and the 09 done right could really take that position from them.

If you haven't seen this, it is worth the time. These modded 800XC's are ridden WAY beyond their intended use. Wonder how many repairs were done throughout the making of this? Make sure you view in full screen mode...tp

Ya, seen that before. Ernie and Nick are incredibly skilled stunters. Ever see US "Top Gear" with Tanner Foust racing a 'vett against Ernie Vigil on Speed Trip through an industrial area, and over the S.F. bay bridge? Awesome.

They prove they are more than just stunters on this vid. Wonder if they could compete with the Romaniacs crowd. Those guys are insane. Never seen that Top Gear episode, but will hunt for it.

2013 Romaniacs, just 1/2 of day 1. These guys are totally insane...

Ok, this bike has been out awhile now. I've been trying to find some specs that Yamaha doesn't list on their US website. Does anyone know:

What is the spec for Trail?
Are the forks damper rod or cartridge design?
    What is the alternator output?

    TIA
