Stop adding stuff! I just figured out how to get a chainsaw in my saddle bags. It will take me days to figure out heavy equipment......

    Will a Tonka truck work?????

Ferry is out of commission probably for the rest of the year. Waybill is working on a change.

Boo. Poor ferry. It seems like it's docked more than it runs. It probably won't be in business much longer.

At what time do we meet at Flagler Beach? Anyone else from Orlando area, riding that morning or staying in a hotel the night before?

I am coming from Longwood. Had asked for an official Friday night hotel location but didn't see one get posted. At this point I may just head up early Saturday.

To answer some questions. Hotels for Friday night. Some of us are staying at I-95 and SR100 which have several hotels close to starting point and cheaper than staying in St Augustine. Our Starting point will be at the Veterans Park on the corner of A1A and 100. We will meet in the park at 7:45 to sign in and distribute roll charts. Dinner/Party Friday night will be Finn's on the corner across the street from Park. Cheers

Houston we have a problem……. The Homosassa Riverside Resort in Homosassa has sustained damage from the last 2 hurricanes. 11 of the rooms reserved for our group will not be available. Hold on…… the hotel called me yesterday and are willing to upgrade those 11 rooms to other rooms that were not damaged at no additional cost. Remember the rooms we reserved were the cheap rooms on the bottom floor, hence why they got water damage from the storms. Most of the upgraded rooms will be “suites” having a living room, 2 bedrooms, and sharing a bath. Not to worry, everyone will get a separate bed (no spooning here) and the cost will not change. The only issue is the sharing of the bathroom. I am adding my name for the reservation change but I need 10 more reservation holders at the Homosassa Riverside Resort (only those whose name is on the reservation) to volunteer. Please send me a private message (PM) through ADVrider.com that you are willing to change your reservation. I will forward all the names to the hotel. Please do not call the hotel as we are working the issue through their reservation manager and the front desk can not make this change. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

The hotel in Homosassa has been great. The hotel could have just canceled everyone's reservation and ruined it for us, but instead are working hard to ensure everyone has a place to sleep despite the damage to their hotel. So no worries we will make this work. I will keep everyone updated. :ricky

Sounds like good people, we might want to give them more business in the future. I'm looking forward to feedback on this route in comparison to previous TF's.

Also wanted to mention something that doesn't get brought up often. These rides are meant to be somewhat challenging and that usually shows up in the small percentage of finishers at the end, although that's been growing. This one will likely be a little easier because it goes into some areas we're less familiar with and there's never enough time to scout the really good stuff. Plus there may be a little more pavement because we're getting closer to population centers than where we usually ride (also one state forest is having a hunt that weekend and we can't get in).

Some food for thought as far as timing. Each day is normally in the 240 mile range, which means you need to have a moving average of around 40mph for 6 hours. Not as easy as it sounds, most of you will be doing 20 (plus or minus) mph in the dirt sections which means you have to do at least 65-70 on pavement to get close to that average . Throw in an hour for lunch, another hour for gas stops, bonus photos, and general dickery and it's an 8 hour ride if you don't have any problems. Then you get to do it again the next day : )
