    Yeah. The terrain is much different. Plus no beer truck. We kinda were off camping away from the group both nights doing our own thing. Maybe not next time.

    Thank you CADS for organizing the event! I had a great time. Had fun riding with Randy and Juan who kept me out of trouble.

    I wrote a strongly worded letter to Suzuki and they sent this to me. Never underestimate the power of a strongly worded letter.

    Yea but you’re still stuck with the labor costs...
    LOL!
    Got another project in the garage. Just what you need.
    I have time off in the middle of this month. I can fly over and help you if you want.

    Thanks! I'm outta here a week from tomorrow and gone till at least the end of the month.

    I swung the engine back into the BMW two days ago (hopefully, for the last time) and freed up a bit of space to work on the Zed. I think I'm going to start tearing it down today.

    The engine supposedly has 6000 miles on it but I just checked the valves and the right exhaust valve is out of spec (.152mm and spec is .2mm - .3mm). The other exhaust is just within spec at .203mm.

    Both intakes are just within spec at .102 mm (spec is .1mm - .2mm). Of course, I won't be able to buy any shims until Tuesday at the earliest, assuming the dealer has them on the shelf. The only Prime option is a full shim kit for $80 and I don't want to buy a full kit.

    EDIT: I'm not much for the higher power thing but I'm beginning to think there are forces at play here that want me to move on from this bike;

    I wanted to be 100% sure I had the valve clearance measurement correct so I reinstalled the cams and as I was torquing the caps to a massive 7 ft lbs, one of the cap bolts on the exhaust cam stripped in the head. I'm sure it can be fixed with a Time-sert but I think I'm ready to cut my losses.

    If your looking for another person to tell you to buy the KTM. Then fine

    Brad. You should really pull the trigger on that KTM. It will make you look so kool riding it. Chicks will follow you on Twitter and stuff.

    I can't argue with that logic. I'm buying a KTM.

    I removed the valve cover and was pleasantly surprised at what I saw. The head appears to be in good shape. No dropped valves. No visible damage!

    Then I pulled head. Hey, look at that...a piston! I wasn't expecting to see a piston!

    My old man is a television repair man. He's got the ultimate set of tools. I can fix it!

    I'm going to try some Seafoam first. Or maybe Marvel Mystery Oil.
