Hey Mr Ride , racing always involves politics , and some heated discussion . Just the way it is . I am aware of much of the shenanigans going on , but really I am more interested in safety concerns than some issues with the sanctioning body . The AMA had almost wrecked FT , at least we are seeing more races on the schedule now , which is a good thing . Hang around , this is after all YOUR thread.
a bit harsh
We can disagree and bench race W/O getting ugly ... can't we ???
Looks like the OKC mile is at least a financial success , the indoor seating was sold out , and the outdoor grandstands were full also . Last year I hung on the fence for most of the event , want to "feel" the bikes . Several years ago at Du Quoin we got so close the bikes were pelting us with dirt clods . That was spectacular .
absolutely, all i was saying was the "good riddance" comment was a touch harsh.
i like @randomride and his insights into what is going on.
last GNC flat track race i went to was pomona the last time they ran it, so, 2015, there hasn't been anything near enough to get to that i could make jive with my schedule.
i get the "infield pass" or whatever it is, and i like to stand inside turn 1, just where theyre slamming the throttle closed, jabbing a little rear brake and starting to twitch sideways. nothing like the roar/pulse from those bikes at full song at the business end of a straightaway. often times I'm leaning up against the "horse catcher" inside the turns, about an arms reach away from the riders.
when i go to my local speedway track, i stand 2 feet back from the wall, thats where the yellow line is you're not supposed to cross, its my spot, been standing there 20 years worth of friday/saturday nights. yeah, i get a little dirt in my hair, my pockets, whatever. having been on the other side of the crash wall for a few seasons, its as close as i can get without adding more sheets in my medical file haha.
I was agreeing with you VI .
shitty statement sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey ride don't give up that easy. I f you know stuff you owe it to us to share same. We all need to be raising hell as to why the lady wasn't D/Q. That sucks if your right. Don't go we need the inside scoop!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't see it as a big deal. What does the rulebook say about violations during the heat races?
I have a friend that left home at 3:00 AM on a motor going to the Red Mile. He got the 45$ ticket to sit in the grandstands. He watched practice and quali/f then went down to eat something, they were way too high so he left the track and went to eat. When he got back he could not get in the stands. He ended up standing on top of a sand bag down in the turn for 6 hours. I am 5.5 and he is shorter than I he couldn't get off the bag because people were all around him looking over the fence too. If you got a good seat don't get up and go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you see the Red Mile. I don't think they let you race again if your D/Q in whatever race
There was no race after the singles finals where the DQ took place at the Red Mile . So , no recourse to race again.
When Shana got DQ ed at O.K.C. it was a preliminary race. Her team fixed the problem and she fought her way from 9th to 3rd to make the finals . It sure looks legit to my simple mind .
Sounds ok to me just as long as any other racer gets the same treatment in the future.
That makes sense . I assume that's been addressed in the rules. Looks like she lost the exhaust piece right in front of us. I saw an official kicking a piece of metal to the side before picking it up with something..
She was definitely the crowd favorite with loud cheering with every pass she made.
Same thing happened to me, I went and complained and was told to "sit wherever you want, doesn't matter if it's in the $75 section or not". I promptly ran back and sat in the section with any seats open. I had a great view but sat right over a food vendor so I smelled smoke the whole time.

Glad I didn't spend the extra money at the Red Mile.
Actually, I don't even know why we paid at all
Walked in after parking the bikes and through the betting parlor, and no one ever stopped us or asked for tickets.
No one likes me here anyway so I'll say it. Dirt Track is fixed, crooked and not honest. Flattrack has been crooked since the English first tried to compete against Harley back in the 1950's . The Japanese learned their lesson back in the 70's and 80's and will never commit the resources necessary to win because the Japanese don't like to waste their money. Anyone else ever hear the theory of why twingles were banned other than Harley's breaking their cases ? Some say twingles were banned because the Suzuki Team had figured out how to twingle the SV1000 Suzuki and were on the verge of winning so Harley had twingles banned.. Now the twingle Suzuki story is just a rumor I heard, don't tear my head off because of my repeating it here but that rumor does seem to fit the History of flattrack
