It looks like AFT is going to conduct a precursor race/test at Peoria. It's going to be a quiet event, with select team's invited. I guess someone isn't convinced the mandated changes are going to be enough.

I personally think it is going to become a "Special Event" with no points payout.

This "test" is recommended by AFT. There are many details to be worked out before it might happen. It should not benefit any rider or team but would be only
used to critique the track renovations as suitable to GNC twins.

What I was trying to say was that,

I believe the race at PMC in August will be a special event with no points being paid out. Since there are already 2 TT's for the twins (3 for the singles) it becomes a moot point about not paying points at Peoria.

I may be wrong about this, but I can see this happening very easily.

The Coolbeth win at the Springfield Mile last September has to one of the greatest ever considering he was riding that terrible antiquated HD against the ultimate machine (Kawi Ninja) and the greatest rider ever (Smith).

"If" there is an August race at PMC as planned, I am quite sure it will be a points paying event! By the way, the club is planning an AMA pro-am race in June which will be the first opportunity to experience the new track configuration under racing conditions.

I dont see why it wouldnt be a points paying event,Peoria is all about the history of the sport,if the track can be made better and work for twins, why would it not be a regular GNC race?

I don't believe a rule ever existed requiring a jump on TT's. Castle Rock ran a national for years without a jump. Many TT tracks in the midwest that ran pro
races did not have a jump.

Castle Rock had a jump, depending on your definition. You could get both tires off the ground, a bit, but not anything like Peoria.

I think the original rules called for a hill,,,,, the hill evolved in to a jump.

I was only at Castle Rock in 1977. I don't recall a jump of any type. After Mt. St. Helens covered the facility with ash, the track was rebuilt and I understand then it did incorporate a small jump.

I was led to believe right & left hand turns was the only requirement.

I know about the hard crashes at Peoria last year but what is the new concerns with the track. They raced 750es there for years.

You seem to be a big Harley fan, does it make you wonder if they are going to get back into flat track? I don't think the water cooled 750 will ever do the job, and those three riders will go by by. you must agree the xr is old and Smith is not the best rider, good on miles yes. I hope Harley does come up with a fast ride, they were in dirt track for many years.
