Aww Boy, Nothing like catching up on a Month's worth of updates on the Noob's Thread. Super stoked guys! Almost here! The suspension for my 690 has been out for almost two months now waiting on parts for the revalve / spring and travel increase. Supposed to get it on Tuesday! Whoop!

Wanted to throw it out there once more, I know DBRum has been posting about it. We're eager to collect as much material from other riders as we can to assemble a highlight reel from as many riders as possible over the course of the rally, we'll be setting up a tent area to grab footage for a few hours each evening a bit before dinner time with signs posted up. Quote this message if you want to participate, would be awesome to get a head count of how many folks want their footage included.

    Thanks!

I'm the same boat brah. I have a new Maxxis Desert for the DR front, D606 rear, spooned them on while waiting for its new/used cyl head from FedEx (fingers crossed to still bring it with). I use hair conditioner cut with water as tire lube. I stole the DR's like-new front 606 and spooned it on the 950A, then got out the tire grooving iron and diced up the K60 rear. I took the 950 out for some fun a tire test. Ft/rear hook up great now (Ft K60 almost put me on my face yesterday in the marbles when I got a lil' too grabby on the chicken lever, 606 = prob solved). Re 950, I found out that if you pin it in third gear in the loose stuff, eventually the rear hooks up and she goes like a scalded cat!

Cant wait, trouble sleepin, C'Yall in a week-ish.

I carried a tube of generic KY Jelly when I rode the KTM950 Adv off road. Works great and when it drys it provides a bit of adhesion between the tire and the rim. Cheep too.

If you make the measurements, and take the kick stand off, you can take it to any Trailer Hitch place and they will cut / weld it up for you.

Is anyone riding in from the Los Angeles area? I'm planning to roll out around 11 am on 3/30. I'm going up the 14 through Mojave, but can't make up my mind if I want to come in from the south through Ballarat or go up 395 to Olancha and come in from the west on the 190 for the view.

Anyone looking for a riding partner? Would be helpful if you're better at making decisions than I am.

^^^ @TwoBuck, based on your avatar I'll assume you're riding a a GSA. Here are a couple of options for your inbound trip based on the route you choose.

    395 to Olancha
At Cosco Junction you can head east a bit and take a nice dirt track through Cactus Flats. Very nice ride with great landscape and views. Drops you back out on 395 just south of Olancha.

    through Balarat
take the turn off of Trona Rd and head out to Pinnacles. You'll have to ride back out the same way though. At the very top of the grade out of Trona there is an old jeep road that will take you to the Panamint Valley floor. There are couple ways for you to get to Balarat from there.

I've ridden both routes many times on a GSA loaded with camping gear, it's always possible to run into a couple of rough spots however.

San Diego /rt 15 Northward folks- I am leaving Thursday 3/30 and taking 15/215/395 then splitting off to go through Trona to Panamint Springs. Is anyone trailering from OC, SD, or Riverside CO that wants to split costs? :). Its going to be a hella boring ride so let me know if there is room for me and my F700. Otherwise I am of course riding, leaving San Diego Thursday morning and taking stretch breaks every hour or so. My only mandatory stop is Astro Burger in Kramer Junction. :) Feel free to send me a message if any of this works!

Additionally, I'll be bringing my white board and Ride Sheets, same as Pahrump Rally, for the impromptu ride leaders.

Also, someone DM'd me re tire grooving iron. I'll be bringing the tire cutter and an extension cord, if anyone wants to sharpen their knobs or make their tires dual-sportier.

Also, I'm bringing the bull rake to clear rocks for your tent site! Edit; this is a total DIY, I'm just bringing the rake...

there will be several peeps showing up on this event that are now less noobish than a week ago. wish many of you guys took advantage of it, nevertheless we had a good turnout and it was a huge success. great group of peeps - students and instructors

with the help of bill (kapt slo), we were able to fulfill our annual commitment to help noobs coming to this event and prepared them in a limited way to become better riders.

    ride report here.
