Ride scheduled for October 21-22. Just starting to think of a route. Got to find some new roads--its getting difficult. Mbabc--I'm waiting for your question. It's official---the 2017 HNF will overnight at Twin Lakes Cedar Cabins. Call Susie or Kenny at 812-836-2329 or 812-549-5637 I have cabin #2 rented. Now the rest of you can get your groups set up for the large cabins #4 and #5 @ $140 for 2 people + $10 for each additional person. Please post here or send me a pm when you confirm rental of any of the cabins---it calms my old nerves. Cabin #1 now has a stove and cooking gear but no toilet @ $90 / 2 people + $10 additional person. Cabin #3 is $70 / 2 people + $10 additional. Camping (tent or hammock) is still $10 per person---pay first then setup tent. I'll get a route posted late Sept /early Oct. For now i'm heading to Nevada to ride the Nevada Backroad Discovery Route----retirement isn't all bad!!! Twin Lakes Cedar Cabins 13545 Thrifty Road Derby, In. 47525 N37 59.026 W86 33.579 Talk to Susie or Kenny @ 812-836-2329 or 812-549-5637 or 812-549-5064o Cabins are not sold out and no place for your big camper, just tent camping. German Ridge Rec Area is a few miles southwest of Twin Lakes but i don't know if it can handle you camper. Brown County State Park is 15-20 miles southwest of the start of the ride at Taylorsville. That park fills up in the fall with all the leaf viewers so early reservations are a must. Hope to see you at the ride George. Update 10/10/17 Update: Renter of cabin #1 has cancelled. If interested, give Susie a call. 10/05/17 The tracks are done and pre ride is done. Saturday is about 217 miles and Sunday about 190 miles This years ride will start at he Waffle House on US31 in Taylorsville, In. (N39 17.816 W85 57.496) As always, this ride uses paved and rock county and state roads. No real off road single or two track--sorry. That being said, you will have access to trails at Austin's Farm just north of Stanford (N39 06.283 W86 39.967 )---see Track #1 for location. The farm is about 90 miles into the ride. The longest run between gas stations is Sunday between Brownstown and Taylorsville--about 70 miles. Other sections are between 15 and 50 miles. There are 12 gas locations shown on the tracks. Some are on the track others are a short distance off track. There are 3 additional tracks attached. They all start at Twin Lakes Cedar Cabins. One goes to Derby for food at Smackwater Cove Bar & Grill or gas and drinks at the Derby General Store. The second heads to Rocky Point on the Ohio River for food and gas. The third heads to Tell City for gas, food and motels. In addition to the extra tracks are 2 additional routes. The first helps show the location of Austin's farm. Don't want to pass that up! The second is a short detour for those that may want to see the Empire Pit near Oolitic. Limestone for the Empire State Building came out of that mine----just find the cemetery and walk a few feet south. Watch your step--its a long way to the bottom! 10/07/17 Update-------I added a slightly modified track log Mark Sampson prepared. He added a few enhancements to make it easier to follow the tracks where they cross and where they start. He also changed the track colors to help differentiate one track from another ( I always use red for my tracks 'cause i can't see many other colors on my GPS ) PS--You can change the colors to any color you like on your GPS 10/10/17 Parking Update Drove to Taylorsville again today. We now have permission to park our cars, trucks, vans, trailers etc just west of the Waffle House starting point. The lot is owned by Hoosier Air Transport. We can park on the rock/grass area north of the truck lot entrance. Head to the north end of the lot but on the outside of the fence. Only a short walk to Waffle House. My white Ford Transit will be there late Friday afternoon.
