With a little arm twisting my buddy Jeremy was able to talk me and couple other guys into racing this years Baja 1000.
I haven't raced in SCORE since I did the 500 and the 1000 back in 2010.

We're racing in the 30pro class / Race Number 306x

This year is the 50th anniversary of the race and estimated to be around 1300+ miles.
We've all deposited some cash and booked our rooms for the week in November.
I know it's still early to post but as fast as life is going these days it'll be here before we know it.

Anyways we started a Facebook page if you wanna follow along.
    https://www.facebook.com/Tortuga-Racing-1353541868059985/

Keep the negative comments to yourself unless it's constructive criticism. Let's keep this positive.
We are all experienced riders, understand the crazy amount money we are going to spend, and physical demand it will require.

...but if anyone want's to chime in with advice, we are all ears.
I'm also willing to answer any questions you may have.

We will add more information (prep, strategy, sponsors,...) to this first post as things develop.

Man, I'm jealous! I would say "a once in a lifetime experience", but sounds like your life is more exciting than most.

    What will you be riding?

    Thanks,.... It's a big commitment.
Many other things (time with family, kitchen cabinets, countertops...) have been pushed to next year and beyond to make this happen.
The wife was a little miffed,... but she'll get over it. :jack

Living so close to the race venue makes the decision quite a bit easier ... :thumbup

    We'll be racing a 2014 Husqvarna 501fe.
Jeremy is one of our racers and the owner of the bike.
It has some hours on it but it has been flawless.

It'll get a heavy "going over" and we'll freshen it up quite a bit.

Good luck. I'll probably be down there working medical/rescue again. Hopefully we don't meet up professionally. Over a beer is good though. :beer

Always enjoy following someone's prep stories for B1K.

What class and finishing position did you get at the B1K in 2010? We were sportsman 260x and ended up 6th. We had been running 3rd but one rider went down hard in the dark . Being the stud that he is, he sacked up and got the bike to the next guy. Baja is my favorite racing on the planet.

In 2010 I raced in the 40+pro class. We were 401x. We finished in 4th place. Our first rider broke his foot but got the bike to the 2nd guy. Our 2nd rider broke his collarbone and cut his ride short. He was supposed to ride to Bay of LA but we lost a lot of time getting to him at Coco's Corner.
    .... but that's racing

We would have raced 40+ but we ended up with a fast 20 something on the team and our sponsor would "only" pay the entry for sportsman. They were more than generous to us so that is where we ended up and we were very happy to do it, thank you Hammernutrition!
