Nobody did a good job answering those questions..

    Re:
    5. If riders in my group arrive and think that the conditions for riding the BBA are too challenging for them, can they still camp at the start and enjoy the social aspects of this event in the evening?

yes - hero sections (harder) are optional, and notated on the route sheet. You and your group can decide at every hero section if you want to try it out or just continue along the main route.

Akarob had some good advise about prep. For those newer to the sport, comfort can make or break a day. Bring an extra set of gloves too in case you tip over in deep mud. A backup pair of safety glasses are helpful in rainy/humid conditions. Spark plugs enjoy being bathed in dielectric grease. Cell phones like zip lock bags. :jack

Rain X stuff in advance. Visibility is a valuable commodity in the rain.

Rain or shine, the BBA happens. Just adds to the adventure :thumb

The main route is still doable with anything but bald tires. Some roads will be slipperier and the hero sections will be all that more interesting.

Not as bad as southwestern CT. A few trees came down in Winsted. North of CT, from what I've heard, was just a lot of rain and not much damage if any.

If it rains Saturday, event is still on as was stated above. You can camp in field with anything from a pup tent to a self-contained RV.

Rain or shine, all the hero sections will get you wet. It's Spring in the Berkshires which means Mud Season!

From a few years ago. I'm on the 520 EXC in front of Eugene "Orange" on his big KTM.
The stream beds should be lots of fun with the rain this week! Rocks, roots, mud, oh my!

    Wow! Remember that!
That was from one of the "I'm Not Dead Yet" BBAs. Well, he's dead now and we don't use that section for heroes anymore. There is no go-around for the beaver dam and the road beneath it is dissolving away.

Yeah, that beaver dam was a DEEP water crossing. And the hill climb, mudfest, rutted go around and the slippery wooden bridge was plenty of challenge. I was glad to be on a little bike!

So now that go-around is off limits. We're restricted to the road and have to go through the dam.

It did snow in one of the first BBA events. Mixed with rain was snow.
